Last night i had all gears until i approached a roundabout went to put it in 3rd and it jumped out of gear and then i had nothing.
jacked it up and found the spring clip was not on the linkage and the pin was missing. managed to make a new pin and put it all back together but now i only have...
3rd, 4th, 5th and reverse.
any Ideas??
Cheers
Loss Of Gears
Re: Loss Of Gears
Post a pic up of the pin you have made, it might be flexing and not allowing the selection rod to move enough over.
Re: Loss Of Gears
it was an alan key that fit pretty tight, it doesnt feel like theres slack in the linkage but theres no differentiation between 1/3 and 2/4
(i helped to make it)

Re: Loss Of Gears
Interesting, get your mate to sit under the car, engine off and select each gear individually. You'll be able to hear if it's slotting in correctly. With someone underneath you'll be able to see if its works properly too. From there you'll be able to see where the rod that sticks out the gearbox should be when in 1st/2nd. Disconnect the linkage rod and try to change the gears using just a screwdriver through the pin hole. If it's not going in gear, you've found your problem.
If it's not looking different between 1/2 and 3/4 though it sounds very much like linkage issues.

Re: Loss Of Gears
Car is now in a mates garage and he's changing the clutch, he's taking out the linkage and having a look i'll keep you updated for people that may experience the same problem.....
