My driveshaft bearings (in the "torque tube") are going bad, at least one of them. They are very noisy. I would like to replace them (not myself, ofcourse).
My questions are: Is this a major job? The Haynes Manual says the gearbox must come down. Is a non-Volvo mechanic capable of doing this job? I guess all three bearings should be replaced, not just the one that's bad (as preventive maintenance). How much time would an average mechanic need? Are they standard bearings and can they be obtained some place else than at the dealer?
i had to replace clutch and crank seal at engine back years ago. i removed the engine from the car. so did the next time, on another 360. the clutch shaft can be removed such way too. but this is only my point of view...
