B14 whining.. ?

Post by CBA »

My 1.4 has a bit of a whine to it, it's not been serviced for years until now - what's likely to cause a whine when the "oil" is black, thin, half petrol crud for a few thousand miles?? :(

you can take the belt off and let it run then to rule out the waterpump and/or alternator.

other possibilitys are the dizzy, fuel pump and flywheel bearing/clutch

In the end I think it was being stood for a month or so and really crap oil - it's been really quiet.. though on the way back from scotland the tappets passed the "need adjustment" mark.
