Sounds like my last MOT man. After all my brake fluid fell out onto the ground. Necesitating recovery and immediate work.

Garage bills suck balls.

BUT, its spent now eh? dont pass that saving on to someone else. If you let spending money on your car (no matter how painfull and unexpected, and gutwrenching the amount) turn into a reason to sell it - youll end up rueing the day dude. Buying something else and doing it all again will ruin your life properly.
If its fit now, Id run and enjoy it.

Far, far better the devil you know dude.

^^ YES^^ couldn't put it better myself. You'd regret it instantly if you sold the beast. Not that you said you would

Exactly why i never got a garage to do stuff for me, mainly beacuse of the price, but also because it's an older car, I don't think they'd put back together properly! At least I know what I've done and it's been done to my standards. That, and I've always wanted to do work myself to find out how stuff works.

But if time is tight, and doing hard work on it is getting no where, then a garage is always useful!!

Cheers valman :)

Ye i agree with on the devil you know. I am just worried I simply cant afford the bill. How long should the job take? 4 hours max? for all belts, water pump and feul filter

I am thinking of questioning it, anyone else ever questioned a garages bill before?

it still does stall, when I really cane it, it'll judder alittle. I also noticed that with my foot hard on the brake and operating both windows the revvs dropped by about 600 rpm perhaps, dosent seem right to me

The windows obviously take a charge from teh circuit, shouldn't affect it by that much unless the battery was dying I would have thought!

As for the garage, just ask them for a run down of what you paid for i.e. labour was X amount, parts were x amount. Itemised bill sort of lines. That should give you an idea, and whether they tried to shaft you.

The bill is itemised, but its just says £200 for labour not how many hours

it does seem weird what it wrong, it stalls alittle between 3k and 4 k when you plant it, like it cant feul fast enough

hmm, fuel starvation . . . small fuel block/leak in the pipes maybe? Float chamber might not be filling enough to support more spirited driving.

A ha! Dur! Stupid Jon. Ok, injector blockage or small leak and air getting in (?), fuel pressure maybe. Is it a random occurrence, or does it occur at regular times, (eg at half throttle etc)

The pipe between throttle body and AFM has the small breather/vac hose coming off it. Air leak in there wouldn't hep runing. Been to see another mate's 300 and that had a split one of them.

Could still be fuel pump if its not been replaced?
Fuel pump fuse contacts?
Jetronic relay contacts?
