I'm pondering about sometime (maybe sometime this summer) converting my car to single point fuel injection...
I know someone who will sell me a head with all the bits for £10, including the ECU from a Renault 5, which should fit straight on to the B14.4E?
Perhaps my main concern is how this will affect the Vario, especially as you can't change gear selector with high revs, which the injection system might do automaticaaly when cold...
Any thoughts, anyone done this on a Vario/any general comments on doing it on 340s?
Still just a possibility,...but maybe if it will work all okay + insurance company dont care too much about it (yet to ask them...) I'll do it.
Cheers
Si

When you start cold with chocke, you have to wait a little while too before you can put it back a little bit and then change gear? I think that if the injection runs nicely you just have to wait a few secs, and then you can change gear.

Be aware of the very different in and outlets on that engine so you will have to make custom intake and exaust manifolds to get it fitted in a 340.
I have 2 BRAND NEW Renault C3J engines laying around.
They are totally different from a B14.x...
What's the use anyway? The monopoint renault engine is weaker then the 14.x volvo engines...

if the clutch limiter works correctly, there's no problem.
the injection system will set a higher stationary rpm when cold, but this will be below 1600 rpm. the clutch limiter can handle that, and will allow you to change gear without problems.
exhaust manifold is about the only big problem when fitting this system.
the engine will give 58 ps at top, wich is a bit weak. luckily it has enough grunt at lower revs.
thanks to closed-loop mixture regulation, you will save a lot of fuel.
performance (and economy!) can be further improved with multipoint injection. solutions are in the making!
