mk2 gearbox

hi felas, i'm after a manual box for my mk2 1400, do i need to find that specific box or will one from a 1.7 or even from the 360 series fit?

AFAIK the most important thing is: 4spd or 5spd (5spds are longer hence shorter diff).

Otherwise swap gearbox and diff over at the same time. Have a look at this thread if you want to keep the diff ratio the same:

Get a 5 speed 1.4 gearbox, the diff will be the right ratio that way
1989 - Volvo 360 GLT
1985 - Volvo 360 GLS
