Speedy88's rather unfortunate Green 360 GLS
Re: Speedy88's Green 360 GLS
Yeah I considered taking mine out but in the end it just dropped down on the floor. It's a nice design really that it *just* fits. I might get it out when I put it back in, only because that's a little harder but we'll see. Maybe I'll get lucky

If you were paying attention at the back and took in details in the clutch thread you started here you may (or may not) remember I mentioned the cover / friction plate sizes in only the 3rd post.Cliché Guevara wrote:As you will see the friction plate does not cover the whole pressure plate. Is that normal?
Depending where you source a clutch from, it would probably cost the around 280 NZD all in (assuming around £80 for a 3 piece clutch kit and approx £70 on shipping it)

Sorry my bad
Forgot to mention that I have the memory of a strobe lit goldfish, poor Mr Brain took quite a pounding during the 90s
However I thought that I would show what my unit looked like just in case it can be used to compare a shady ebay deal. Its a shame that the friction plate doesn't fit as I'm sure it would last longer.

Fair enough, but non-strobe lit goldfish memories are quite good (3-5 months)Cliché Guevara wrote:![]()
Have you checked out how much it would be to get it re-lined locally?
Re: Speedy88's Green 360 GLS
Nothing much this week.
Interior back in:

Exhaust needed a little bit done. Yay hobby welders, but there's no holes in it at least...

Gearbox is in the post still, there's nothing left to do really to get it back on the road other than putting everything back together. Roll on next week!

And to prove to you guys that I CAN weld, here's me using Area 52's £900 rig. I'm definitely a lot better than I used to be!

Re: Speedy88's Green 360 GLS: Day of fail
So I waited around all day for UPS to deliver my box but it was about 5pm before I got suspicious. Gave them a call and alas "we've lost the label, sorry. Can deliver again tomorrow?" I opted to go pick it up instead. Not too much disservice as they helped me load it in the pug, even let me drive right into the warehouse!
By 6.30 I was in the unit undoing the box

I got a bit stuck trying to get the vibration damper off but I suddenly had a thought - what if the parts I need off the 360 box are knackered?

Shit. I looked in and sure enough - it's not the gear that's broken but it's not far off. Picture doesn't show it too well but I hope you can see how worn out the input gear is (almost 2mm off each gear!)

But then this was sitting outside the unit complex, so I was still smiling:

SOOO it looks like I'll have to source a 360 box anyway. Nevermind. Looks like I'll have to tax and MOT the pug now.

The cross member on the 340 box or the one on the car? I'd let you have the 340 one for cheap if it's any use to you?

Oh yeah, they're massively different aren't they! Ignore me mate Tired!

Yeah should be, there's things that are still in bits and hasn't got a radio but once it's on the road I can do those things in the idle 30 minutes here and there.
Also found the wheels that are going to complete the look. Should have them by the end of March

Re: Speedy88's Green 360 GLS: Day of fail
How it is even possible to get gears to that shape, oil fail?
Do I see gears being bluishblack? Lot of heat?
Such thing sucks and also puzzles one mind, I have not seen such damage before, usually it is tooth broken/missing and such.

Re: Speedy88's Green 360 GLS: Day of fail
Yeah it ran out of oil which is what killed it, there's also some chunks in there from some other gears that have asplosdeded. Previous owner wasn't *ahem* careful. Took 2 days to kill it
Re: Speedy88's Green 360 GLS: Day of win?
Problem solved. Plus some goodies:
