1.4 to 2.3 swap

Post by wheelbarrow »

im goin to swap my 1400 for a 2.3 carb engine i got out of a 240.
iv never done this before so any helpful info is much appreciated

i do PRODUCTION CAR TRIALS. now need more power
im using this shell because it is mint condition and building engine into it.
the plan is 2.3 on webers for now

what id like to know is.

Q1. is there a inlet manifold available to bolt on?

Q2. i assume i need engine mounts off 360 b200 to mount to chassis?

Q3. clutch. do i need flywheel and bellhousing off a 360 b200?

Q4. can i use the 4speed?

if anyones has parts i may need let me know

thanks alex

Bad idea. You'll need the whole 360 drivetrain and it's a real pain in the ass to get it to fit. Not to mention 360 fuel tank...

If you like the engine, sell the car and get a 360. If you like the car, go down the renault route. NA williams or turbo'd engines if they're allowed.

Personally having experienced a bit of both, I'd go and get a 360 and keep the engine.

PCT's are cool, I've done a few in mine.

Foggy has put a redblock in a 340. It does need more part collection than the common swaps, but it's doable. You do need to add 360 gearbox mounts to the rear

i have a 360 spare but dont really want to break just yet
and a 365 gls that i dont really want to break
i have a spare 360 5 speed box and
fuel tank will be in the boot.
it was more to do with engine mounting, clutch, flywheel set up i wanted to know

i just want to use the shell because its tidy and nice to start with something i dont have to spend weeks welding.

rules in trials are engine must be one that was produced in that model e.g. 300 series. but you can do anything to the engine turbo supercharge or throttle bodies. one guy has a penta set up 2.7ltr i have been allowed to use this b230 as it same as b200

there some stuff on you tube (cotswold clouds) (presidents trial) (lands end trial)

Ah ok, that doesn't sound too bad then. Plus it sounds like you know what you're doing. I think it should be a fairly easy swap with the right tools and hoists.
