Cheers for the info! I was thinking its still ok to drive it but the car might flag up on ANPR as having a failed test and they'd check the thing over. I wouldn't complain at the inconsistencies in the system, or we'd have much much more strict MOT's. That's the way I see it anyway.

Yep mate they are 15" x 7J wide, apparently rarer than the 15"x5.5J ones, was told to me by a lad with an e30 on the 5.5J ones lol

Exhaust wrap wasn't neat but i had loads left so went over the messy bits. Plus I've got a big hot-air-feed to cover quite a bit of it :D Would do the downpipe as I have more left but only have one stainless cable tie left and don't fancy forking out for more lol.

Might have a crack at doing an oil cooler bracket tomorrow and see how I'm going to run the lines, and where the filter is going to sit. Might plumb the CB back in too as it never got put back after the flocked dash went in. Will be fun for the way down to BKV :)

Need to do some arch rolling before next friday too, gonna be carrying a few wheels, a brother and tents etc. The back wheels rub when just I'm in

All I can do is tidy the car up really, I'm not attempting any repairs to the MOT failed section. Hes pulled away some of the paint etc. and its a load worse than i thought. Holes all the way down, both sills  Hoping the garage aint gonna charge me too much :/

Any Ideas on oil cooler brackets? want it behind the grille (to show it off :D ) Have had a quick search and found some lovely machined ones someone's done but that's a bit beyond me. I'll have a more extensive search

Also, whats 10w40 like in the diff?

Cheers,
Matt

Some 1-2mm ali sheet bent up would do the trick, that, or steel sheet painted up so it doesn't rust. Can form it to what you want then.

Wish I could go BKV, alas no. As, for 10w40 in the diff, it sounds a bit thin for me. Diff oil isn't too much money, but I'm assuming you've got some left over from an oil change?

Car won't flag up on ANPR for a failed test, it doesn't work like that.

Same as Jon, use 80w90 in the diff unless you like grindy noises
They dont check exhausts for volume yet police will do you if its too loud
Since living in Bristol I've since learned that there is no official limit to how loud is "too loud", it's up to the officer in question. You can argue that in your own opinion, it's not too loud and if he is persistant quote construction and use. I'm not at all advocating that people should cause a nuisance and be anti-police, I respect anyone who chooses to do that as a job but I feel I have the right to drive what I want, as long as it has MOT, Tax and Insurance. Doing donuts in the town center with no exhaust is just dumb though...

i've got enough (expensive) diff oil to fill the diff, was wanting to save it for the new diff tho, hmm might buy some cheap stuff then, just have loads of 10w40 kicking about

its making a whiney noise as is :/

i wondered because i drove through two cameras that are usuaslly manned by a police car further down the road, they watch and do you for seatbelts etc, but all the anpr stuff comes up too. didn't stop me :)

yeah, i found a pic of how you'd done yours, want mine right the way up and thought it might be a tad flimsy? maybe some 1" angle bolted between the trumpets then similar brackets to yours. I have loads of 1" angle from road signs that have somehow appeared in my garden

shame bout u not making BKV mate

Be a pikey, just drain the oil out afterwards into a clean container and re-use it. It really won't contaminate it too much

yarp. I think older cars have chrome like mine, but later cars have black trim. Probably wrong though. Spray yours. Easy.

From memory black pillar trim is just stuck on very late cars.

I'll mibbe check the parts book later when I'm home.

Thanks dude, if not do you reckon i would be able to get it sprayed or even vinyled? I prefer it to chrome lol because there is already a lot of chrome trim lol

It's just a textured vinyl. Hard to find exactly the same, but to replicate it would be simple if you're not needing to match the original stuff exactly

Aye as it came from the factory. I like it better than the chrome with it being a late model. Think I'd probably choose vinyl over spraying them so that its easily removable if you change your mind and you dont have to go to the hastle of masking etc. Buy a roll of gloss or satin black 'fablon' sort of vinyl stuff from wilkinsons/boyes/yorkshire trading co. sort of place and have a go!

-edit, I know wilco's do some textured vinyl but not sure how close a texture they do to factory

Well, I've ordered some sensors, oil temp and oil pressure. I have the space for them in the new oil filter relocation plate so though why not? I bought a guage cluster from a Lancia integrale that has the two guages for the sensors. Now just have to wait for the sensors to arrive then I can get on fitting the oil cooler. Need to fab up all the brackets for everything before tuesday evening when i drop the car off at the garage to get welding and MOT re-test so will crack on tomorrow. Had a trial run of the hose and I'm sticking the filter in front of the battery with the oil lines running over the rocker cover. I'll be making brackets to hold the pipes off things like the ex. manifold, rocker cover, moving pulleys etc. And a heat sheild for er they pass the exh. mani too.

Want it all done for BKV :D
