Re: Hello All...
I thought it was a good time to update some news about "Marilyn".
I seem to remember an inquiry as to the unique headlamp wiper system. Today I finally had some time to check it out and make some minor repairs to that system. It works perfectly now after replacing a bad section of wiring and the fuse.
Here are the photos:

Directly behind the grille is the support rail.

Inside the rail is the chain and chain rail which moves the wipers at either end.

The motor and pivot arm which attaches to the chain rail.

The entire working unit. The only time the wipers work is when the washers are used and they now work perfectly, just as designed.

Need to find (and purchase) the tape first before I can apply it.
Today I will try to figure out how I can return the ignition wiring back to normal. What a nighmare that California mechanic created.

By the way "Sir Richard of Dublin"... the the Declutching Servo (Valve) mounted near the bulkhead does NOT hold a single bit of pressure. Looks as though it may be headed for the bin.

Hey, don't chuck it in the bin! Never chuck things like that in the bin.
I'll try and dig one out in the next few days.
Does the servo itself work when you attach a vacuum to it?

That's a Friedland Sesame/Dimex non-illuminated door bell push missing its top cover if you're looking to replace it....thebear54 wrote:

LOL...Rich you are a smart ass.
Put on your thinking cap Rich...
I disconnected the pushbutton switch which had been wired to the starter (and spliced in to the hot wire on the ignition). The Declutch servo was tested after I glued it back together (it was holding pressure but I did not hear it activate when power was applied)

The car will now start in Park, Reverse, Neutral but NOT Drive. There also seems to be an issue with the Park setting in that it does not fully engage (I can still move the car backwards by applying a little gas pedal).
Today I also took the shifter apart and checked the Microswitch...which was operating perfectly.

I am baffled by this nasty bit of electrical bodging. When I shift from Reverse to Drive there is a loud clunk..when I go from Drive to reverse it also clunks.
Engine Revs are set low right now so that is not the problem.
Well, I did it !!! Today I installed the "speed wing".

Could not help myself...I think it looks good.

My thinking cap will go on tomorrow if I can find it.
Re: Hello All...
Hi mate.
The car looks fantastic with the proper boot spoiler. Now you need some 343 stripes.
I got lucky and found mine in Germany. Some times they come up for sale on the volvo300 club site in Holland.
Anjo or Frits could maybee help you there.
Well done on the roof.
Cheers Mark.
