What size/type of LPG tank are you going to fit?

Mixer is nice and easy but the common Strom mixer does not work, you need a smaller ventrui or it will not suck enough even with a R90

Quite a day. Was fun trying to work out ways to undo the nuts and bolts of the towbar on my own but I got there, now free of a large lump of metal. Sorted the birds nest of wiring. Spent ages trying to work out why I had two tail lights on the passenger side, didn't realise there are two each side. One of my stop/tail bulbs has failed on the tail side. Half an hour of wire pulling and head scratching before I copped on.

Stripped the water pump, the leak is from this little rubber ring, it's seen better days. Pump is fine though.

Trying to get a gasket set for it but the company I found selling them in Germany wants 20+ euros postage when I try to checkout. Sent an email for now asking them to be gentle. Picked up a haynes today on fleabay for £2.99+ postage. Maybe it can tell me where the little piece that fell when I took out the radiator goes.
Somebody kindly filled the cooling system with rad-seal, the stuff that came out was like the morning after a bad curry. Pleasantly surprised at the ease of fettling this car.
Checked the levels in diff and gearbox, gearbox is lower but both are down. Guessing it's the gearbox that's leaking. Got some atf in the carb dashpot as it was dry.

That's it really, slow day.

@Dai, not sure yet on the LPG. My friend does conversions, he is doing it all in for €450. (mates rates) I will be speaking to him as soon as I can get the car over there, right now she is v.o.r until I get the pump gaskets.
As for the tank, 38 litre in the spare wheel well I think, something like this,

I pass an LPG station on the way to and from work so I don't need a big one.

Been a while since I've been on, had some postal issues with my water pump gaskets but got them finally, now all sealed up and new coolant in.

I realised the interior mirror was missing after I bought the car and I bought one on ebay for a fiver (original) only to find it came without the mount that is bonded to the windscreen, luckily the local volvo dealer got me one for 6 euros so that is now sorted.

Had to put this on the back burner for a while as I fought with getting my skoda through the NCT and various other time consuming projects. Needless to say, battery was dead by the time I got around to the water pump, kids had left the lights on after playing in the car. Charged the battery and now a new problem. The idle is all wrong, chug, chug, chug.

The only thing I can think of is the addition of atf to the dashpot. It's certainly not right anyway.

Anyway, will be getting stuck into this car soon, need her up and running before I have to tax my other car again.

Check the diaphragm in the carb - they tear and perish over time and could be causing your chugging issues. Easy enough to check and available from Burlens

Thanks for the heads up on the diaphram, I am avoiding the issue for now. Interesting site that, I might buy the rebuild kit and have a crack at the carb, at the moment I am concentrating on the noisy clutch release bearing. I got one for about a tenner on flea bay, borg and beck. I'm was planning on leaving the clutch alone but got some advice from a mechanic who said it was a whore of a job and to do the clutch while I'm at it. I got a borg and beck friction disc for about 20 euro again from the bay and set about it this afternoon. Well...................

Blood, sweat and close to tears I have finally released this beast from the car.

It only took me 6 bloody hours. Granted, it's the first time I removed a gearbox and I was on my own but bloody hell. What a kerfuffle. There is a bit of swarf on the magnet but nothing more in the oil. I swirled the magnet through it after cleaning it and it came out clean. Should I be concerned about this?

I am going to replace all the seals and gaskets on the box and final drive. Tomorrow the torque tube is coming off. My backbox fell to pieces when I was trying to seperate it at point 3, I had to split it fairly comprehensively at the downpipe. :x

All in all. A frustrating day. Many more to come I'm sure. Off to drain the diff oil now I suppose.

Ok, I need a bit of advice. I have removed the torque tube, there is a bit of vibration coming from the center, is this normal? I was under the impression the prop should be held rigid by the 3 bearings? The main reason I'm doing this is to get to the vibration that I thought was the clutch release bearing. A rumbling noise in neutral when the clutch is let out.

Many thanks.

This is turning into something more than me just using this as a daily driver. I think I'll be breaking out the paint and cleaning everything up. Engines coming out, have to do the mounts anyway.

If I'm doing that I may as well just keep going. Going to tax my seicento for another 3 months and see what i can get done in that time, the parts list is growing. :( Will be speaking to you soon Dai.

This is my first clutch job so I'm not sure if this is gone or not, sure looks it to me. I can lift it with little effort. The new one doesn't move.

The torque tube has me worried, I had a look at the parts catalogue and the bearings don't come separate. Meh!

Wouldn't worry about that. Just get one of the bearings out for the size/number. It'd be pretty much standard bearing stuff.

Are there 3 bearing inside or 2? They had both quantities at different times.

They arn't :(

Much like the B172k clutch shaft bearings, they are encased in a rubber substance. Getting them out isn't super easy either, try drifting and they move as far as the next one then seized solid. I've made a custom winding pulling thing and pull them out that way, but you need to make a piece that can drop through the centre hole then square up and seat behind the bearing.

Measure the distance they are in the tube too. I've no idea how critical it is, but every one I've seen has had the bearings in the same place.
