Bucket seats

Post by Ali »

I'm looking at getting a pair of buckets for the 340, obviously subframes don't exist so would it be ok to say weld the frame the buckets come with to the original 340 seat frames? Does anyone know how easy it is to remove the seat from the frame as I had a look underneath and there looked to be a decent square frame on the bottom,
cheers

its easy to remove the seat frame from the floor, and fairly easy to remove the seat from the adjusting mechanism, but virtually impossible to make it go back on. best option might be to find a car with similar length rails, get a frame for that car and fit the seats with that frame onto the floor of the 340. could lower it a bit that way too

Well the buckets that im looking at currently have mini subframes on them so really i was just looking to remove the seat from the adjusting mechanism and weld the mini frame to the adjusting mechanism, they should be lower anyway as the base of buckets aren't as thick as a normal seat, might need to cut up the mini frame a bit but should be possible to bolt or weld it to the adjusting mechanism, i'm not really too fussed about gettin the original seats back on after anyway,

yeah i just think it'd be easier to get a seat which is already set up for another car (with the right bolts to attatch to, say, a golf adjustable base) then bodge the golf base onto the floor of the volvo - i think this would be easier/safer than the other way around

Got the seats fitted today, as the runners on the seats were the same length as the originals and narrower I used a bar at the front and back of the subframe, bolted runners to bar and bar to floor :)

Looking good - I had my doubts, but they do look pretty tasty! You'll have to give me a spin in that.

Looks good, I like it. All you need now is a snowcap

That handbreak looks a bit high, does it not?
