Hi, im new here

Post by David »

Well, im new here. Just found this forum, and i think its cool 8)
My father bought a Volvo 940 last week, so he gave me his old car, a Volvo 360 GL -88 which he bought 2 month ago. Dont think he ever liked that car.
But im very happy with my 360 :D

He bought the Volvo 360 from a old man, who had keept the car in top condition from day 1, so i think im honoured that i got this car after all. Drowe it tonight, and passed by another 360/340, and just as i looked in at the other car, the driver waved at me.

Sorry about my bad english, i rarly write in english.

Welcome!
Younger 300 drivers are indeed starting to recognise eachother.
I've had other 300 drivers waving at me too.

Have Fun, and keep it in top condition.
Your english is perfectly understandable.

Thank you guys.
I will do my best to keep it in good condition!
I drove my 2 yrs old son in the car today, and he seemed to like it a lot 8)

Cant do so much more than wash and drive the car right now, hope it wont break down on me. Have to fix some rust on the doors, not much but doesnt look so nice...

It is very unlikely to break down, they hardly ever do... The only thing 300's suffer from is rust.
Keep the rust away and you will have a lot of fun for a long time.
When you wash the car, wash the wheel arches on the inside. Those are spots prone to rust.

If you can weld or know anyone who can weld properly it is not to bad, depending on where the rust is... If it is just on the doors you could think about replacing the doors instead of having them welded.

An other door is probably even cheaper then welding the rusty one.

Have fun with your 360! It won't let you down, if you won't let the car down ;-)

Its not that bad, just some small spots on one door. I found a spraycan with paint in the car, so i have covered the small parts. I have to look under the car to see if its free from rust., Really hope that the floor and other parts are healty.

Hi David,

In this topic you can find a very common place for rust under the car. You should check that!

I hope it will be OK.

Remember when treating rust that you need to treat both sides of the panel - most rust comes through from behind, so making it look pretty is correcting the symptom, not the cause. Own a 300 for long enough, and you'll become a rust expert :)

cheers

Yes, its true, making it look nicer just spraying with paint over the rust wont help. I will have to repair the brakes soon, so i could ask them to take a look at the rust also. Might be expensive though.
