Question about leccy windows
In a few days i will have a set of electric windows for my glt. The guys from the scrapyard where i found it are going to take the necessary pieces of the windows from the car.
They sad they don't excactly know what should all be included in the set when they give it to me. When there are bits missing they will take them from the car too. So my question is, can anyone tell me what's all included in a complete set of electric windows (so i.e. wires, relays, switches?).
Cheers, Thomas

If they take the switch panel out, the plugs that fit on the back are definitely needed, as most people forget them and it means a lot of hassle otherwise. If they can keep the plugs and trace as much of the wiring too that would be of more help to you. Other than that, I can't really be of much help.

Ok thanks so far, i was thinking about following the wire from the switches to the fuse box. From there they probably go to the windows. I not sure if there's a relay in the wiring. But i'll see what they get out of the car and if that is all i need.

Ok, never mind this topic. They called me from the scrapyard and told that there only were switches in the console and NO actual bloody leccy windows!!

Maybe so, but it would be definitely a good idea to get the switches - you may not find an electric window kit again
Though saying that, you could always use switches from a 700/900/800/400 - it depends on how original you want to be!

If your lucky your car may have the loom already and then its just a case of plug and play!! If you take the switch panel out and have the extra plugs it should be easy!!! When i put leccy windows in my 3 door this was the case!!
But i am going to be putting electric windows in the blueline so i will be able to give you more info, as it doesnt have the loom!!!
Cheers Adam

electric windows are NOT pre-wired.
[edit] at least... I have never seen it (even in eu documentation) [/edit]

I doubt that. The wires for the fog lights in my 360 GL were also pre-wired. I didn't know about that first, but after then it was just plug-and-play. There was a blanco wire under the fuse box in the dashboard. This is where is connected the switch to, and the light worked
I saw the wiring sceme in the manual, the wire where the windows should be connected to is mentioned by color. When i find an unconnected wire in this color under fuse 9, that'll probably the one. I'll check tomorrow...

Indeed, I often think they made it up as they went along! There are so many differences on something that should be fairly standard or easy. Such as the way in which the ambient temp gauge connects to the multiplug behind the dash, some there are spade connectors taped up under the dash, other have wires running to a plug hidden under the airbox on GLT's normally, or some already have the sensor in place as well and some have nothing at all!antiekeradio wrote:almost every version had its own wire loom. could be that some versions (GLT export?) had the electric windows pre-wired.
definately NOT in Thomas' car.

Not that i am starting an arguement but some ARE pre wired, as mine was. I agree with pete in all the variations!! Talking of which has anyone seen the amount of variations of breather systems for the carb on 1.7's i have seen four variations all on F regastration cars!!! (1988 or 1989)
