i think you would need to replace the whole body panel. its one-piece, so you'd need to get someone to cut the rear off another car, then graft it on i think. unless there is sentimental value in the car i would seriously consider getting another 300.. the frame of the car might well be damaged.

No problem mate. Is the other side of the car affected at all. As Hugh says, it looks as though it has caused some structural damage, which may be rather costly to repair. However, it looks like a very nice rare car that you like a lot. The rear quarter is rather badly affected, but, you could replace that section, and the rear panel. The chassis may need to be straightened, and realligned, but I doubt the wheel allignment has been affected. With saloons joining to the window at the rear quarter, it may be harder than on a hatchback to replace, but I'm not sure. That's a real shame, I do hope you can save it. At least it worked as it should, protecting the passenger compartment and collapsing to absorb the impact. The other car does look a mess. Are your insurance company dealing with this, as I'd imagine the other driver has admitted being at fault, due to driving into the back of you. However I'd expect them to try and write the vehicle off at this age. Good luck.

i spose the thing to remember is that labour rates are probably less in romania (less than £40/hour??) and cars more expensive (that'd be valued at £100 over here).. you can see how its so easy for us to write off our cars :)

Wheal my friends thank's for all the tips and tricks!!!
The other driver admited its fault....
And the car shoul be repaired in 1-2weeeks because the insurance company will pay al the costs.

And you are right - here a volvo like ours still values 2500-3000 euro ... no comment...

And some pics when it was OK :

That's good to hear that the insurance company are going to sort it out, and so quickly, nothing like insurance companies in the UK! I hope they do a good job of the repair and you can ge many more years of motoring from your 300.

Yap Pete mate - because here things work different.

First they set the value of the reparation cost...
Then they repair the car
And than the one in faull must pay the difference if there is one
But the car gets repaired!!!!!!! yiihaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

That's a good news!! Finally a good reason to be in Romania, because here in Belgium, as in UK, it would be difficult to convince the insurance company to let it repair...

That seems a very nice car! Like those alloys on a Mk2. Good to hear it gets fixed. Cars like the 300 get barely any damage refunded by insurance in Holland. It'very fast declared as totalled.

Now I'm absolutely shure that the car will be repaired in time and the costs will be paid by the insurance company and by the one who crashed into me...

So it seems it will be just fine.
I will send some pics when it will be fixed.
Good luck for everybody!!!!

that would deffinately be a right off in the uk because the repairs would not be cost effective against the value of the car , in fact I doubt if many of our cars would be valued at more than our insurance excess

i might be offtopic here but.......like robi ,i'm from romania too and i had a crash too from behind ,it was a triple crash at the lights with a citroen bx behind me and an 18 old freak with an escort crashing the citroen which crashed me........original volvo hook saved my ride, and i went off without even scratching the bumper.
