Problems with window wiring

Post by RandomHero »

Hi,

I have problems figuring out the wiring for the leccy windows. I know which wires i need to use that come from the fuse box and i know which wires come from the window motors. I also have the switches but i don't know how the wiring is sorted out between all that.

Could somebody with a leccy windowed car make a picture of the connectors under the switches, like in the picture? Because when i see which wires (colors) come from under the switch i might be able to sort it out. Other tips 'n tricks are also welcome.

Thanks in advance :)

ok I may be able to help her .no pictures but read this carefully .
in the picture you have the bottom row has three pins from left to right these are
on plug one
pin 1 two brown wires one to loom behind speedo one to pin 2 second row
pin 2 one red wire to white plug behind glovebox on uk cars
pin 3 two black and red wires connects to loom behind speedo
next row left to right
pin1 one black wire to white plug behind glove box on uk cars
pin2 two brown wires one from pin1 row1 other to same pin on other plug

the other plug ( 2)is
pin1two brown one from pin 2 second row of plug one ,one to pin 2second row plug2
pin2 one red and white to loom behind speedo
pin 3one black and red from pin 3 row 1 plug 1
second row
pin1black and white to loom behind dash
pin2brownfrom pin1 row1 plug 2

hope this makes some sense

Ok, thanks already! From under my glove box there comes a red-black and brown cable. These are the ones for the windows. There's an electric scheme in the manual. But i doesn't tell the right thing i guess. But i'll try to look at it.

But if someone has a pic i'd like to see it too.

Thanks, Thomas

Sorry Mick, but i can't seem to figure out which wires come from the window motors itself? You must know that the windows motors arn't yet in my car so i don't know which color wire they should have from the 'scheme' that you gave me.

I havent got electric windows at all in my car , I just stripped the protective tape on a loom I have for the switches .

your diagram dos make sense when you have the wires in front of you

plug 1 in my description is the drivers side switch and plug 2 passenger side switch

brown earth wire gos to pin 5 on plug 1 then loops from pin 5 to pin 3 on plug 1 ,another brown wire loops from pin 3 on plug 1 to pin 5 on plug 2 then another wire runs from pin 5 on plug 2 to pin 3 on plug 2 thats the earths finished with

black /red from fuse 9 gos to pin 4 on plug 1 then loops to pin 4 on plug 2 thats thats the live feed done.

as plug one seems to be the main one ( ie where wires go first ,) I presume this is for drivers side

therefore on plug 1 the black wire from pin 1 and red wire from pin 2
go to the drivers side motor

on plug 2 the black and white wire from pin 1 and the red and white wire from pin2 go to the passenger side motor

on the diagram you have I think the words red and black , not in brackets are for drivers side and the red/white and black/white in brackets are for passenger side

basically you have a live feed , linked earths , and then one wire from each switch to make the window go up and the other to make it go down

hope this helps a bit more

Ok, thanks a lot. Mick's last post makes sense :) I should be able to sort it out now.

@Adam,

I'd like to see how that loom looks like. Are you able to show me a pic when you've got it by this weekend?

Randomhero i have the wiring loom!!!! It took me 2 1/2 hours to get it from the car, in the end i took the whole loom from under the dash as its always useful to have, no i just gotta separate the window wiring parts!!!!

Actually mate i have just looked at the loom and it would make much more sense to get one as the leccy windows bit is really easy to connect once you have it!!! Two spades into the main loom and then other ends to doors and sensor console!!! Simple!!!
