Solenoid for weber carburator (Weber 104-100)

Our beloved 340 DL has been acting funny for a while and two weeks ago I discovered the fault.

We have been driving around with at faulty idle-solenoid. The volvo dealer has not been able to find me a prober spare part, so now I turn to this forum.

It is an idle solenoid for a weber 104-100 carburator. Engine is a 1.4.

I have attached a picture of the solenoid.

We (our little family) would appreciate a hint to where we can locate such a solenoid and we are also very interested in buying one.

We are located in Denmark, Aarhus.

These are pretty expensive to buy new so make absolutely sure it is this that is causing the problem. If you are sure it is this, the pin not retracting, the easiest and cheapest fix is to cut the sliding pin off completely back near the threaded part and chamfer the end so it doesn't stick. This will solve the problem with fuel flow, it may or may not cause any after effect on the car but if it does all it will be is a slight run on after switching off the engine. This has been done with my dad's 340 and has caused no after effects at all, and this method was suggested to us from a carb overhauler because the price of the part is expensive.

The choice is yours, I did it this way because it was a lot cheaper then buying a new one, I would have bought one new to finish the overhaul I did on the carb but once I knew the price of the new one out came the saw and file. Works great!

It has not been possible to find a new solenoid, so I will try your solution later today. At the moment it's the only solution to the problem, and it sure is cheap

run-on can be cured by slipping the car into 5th and pulling your foot off the clutch quickly

Darn It.

Did not see the auction till it was to late. Is the buyer a member of this forum? I will try to contact him asap - our volvo is driving, but not perfectly.

I would love to get in contact with him and purchase the solenoid.

I have tried to contact the possible buyer, but no such luck. I have not had any luck in contacting 5Lab either.

Should anyone have any idea as to where I can purchase the solenoid - I´m still interested in buying.

The volvo is running without any big problems. I would like to fix the after run though.

Just get a pair of pliers and rip the plunger out, car will "run on" though
