360 GLS repaired (quite a long time ago..)

Post by m_robi1331 »

I think you all remember my crashed 360 GLS.....

Image

Actually the car was repaired about a mounth and a half ago...but since the site was not working I could not publish my news...

anyway ... so I am pleased with the reparations, brand new bumper, brand new tail light, brand new rear panel welded to place and paintjob good.
The only problem is, that they could not find a shiney bumper like the original was, so at the moment it looks a bit strange but I hope I can find an ornament like that ...

The final cost is between 1500-1700 euros paid by the insurance company...

Actually this is very funny, because the car's value before the crash was 2500-3000 euro and now with the price of the reparation I colud buy a 343 DL .... and in the UK I think I could buy a whole fleet of volvo 300s... sm38 sm56 sm54 sm56

Pics to come!!!!!!!
Cheers, Robert

do you mean those stainless steel plates that can be fitted on top of the bumpers?

that would be a pity if you had to miss that. I hope the bumpers are the correct type at least?? (thin style, 1980-1985)

perhaps someone from the forum has a pair in the shed?

Greetings Wouter

Yes, I was talking about those stainless steel plates, that comes on the bumper, they can easily be fitted, if only I had them, actualy I only need the right side one, because they come in 2 pieces, and the left side of the car is the one that was crashed ...

Anyway I don't think I could find one here In Romania, because cars like these, especialy the 360 GLS are reare....

One solution would be, if you guys would send one to me, but I think the postal costs are too high... so I will have to find another solution ...

Hi Robert,

Good to hear the 360 is fixed. Can't believe that is all payed by insurance. That won't happen in Holland i guess :(

Can you show us some pictures from the repaired section? Is the new paint matching good with the old one?

Excellent, I'm glad things are all sorted. That's amazing though, that the insurance paid for it all! Good luck in finding the metal part to make it complete.

I read somewhere, (was it on this forum?) that there is a very little known law in the U.K which states that if your car is damaged by a third party, you can INSIST that the car is repaired, or atleast put back into the condition it was in before the accident. Obviously it would be in the insurers interest to give you a few hundred quid but their view of a cherished and much loved car can be very different to the owners view.

If you think about it.. Why shouldnt you beable to have your car repaired, regardless of age? Its like someone buying your car, and taking it away when its not even for sale!

Good luck mate, you can make you car complete again, and get the insurance to pay for them and the shipping if you're lucky!

Thanks everyone, petefarrell360 and redline, really appreciate that you rememberd of my and my poor 360.
But as I wrote in the pm messages, I'm not sure about the shipping costs to romania...
the car would look much better with those on, now it's so "ugly" whitout those on the bumber ...
Thanks mates !

i am happy that you would like to help me, but first I must know the price I will have to pay for this, you know, here in my country is not like in the U.K. or elsewhere, people don't earn as much as you think, so I would first like to see the price of the part ant the shipping cost before getting into it ...

If i'm looking from the back to the car, the right one is damaged, and in the middle there is a small plate that covers the two , that is missing as well.

Doh, if only I'd read this thread before replying to m_robi1331! Mick, I've offered to do exactly the same! I've quickly looked into shipping costs, and you're looking at approx £40 shipping! However this was a very brief look, and I'd hope that can be beaten. So I'll leave it with you Mick, as I doubt I'll be around at the end of the auction! Good work that man.
