I'm running on LED stop/tail lights, I'm not 100% on them at the moment, one task over xmas is to put Kar and Fake sideby side and see the difference. I'll keep you informed

the LEDs do light up faster... volvo did some research into this and this is why the S40 was the first car with the LED high level brake light and normal bulbs in the other brake lights. They had some stats on the distance travelled during the delay of the LED lighting up and then the bulb brake lights...

Its only significant when at motorway speeds though.....

The Phase 2 S80 has LED brake lights for all lights... however, some reason volvo isnt using them in any other model.... odd!!!

Yes I do remember that now you come to mention it. The main reson I was going to fit LED bulbs was they are supposed to last longer.
I am keen to give them a try.
If I dont think they are bright enough I may try doubling them up!

I'd also be interested in changing to LEds as they last longer. My J reg has an annoying fault where one of the tail lights goes off intermittantly. I can get it working if I bend the contact on the side of the bubl holder but it goes off after a few mins of driving. Its a simple problem and should be easy to fix but ive tried it a few times and is still wont stay on...

Ive "only" got three tail lights now instead of the usual 4 for the 340... :)

That's an earth fault mate, I've posted up some pictures somewhere of how I've cured it, just solder a wire from that terminal and crimp a earth ring on, and ground it onto the cluster bolt. I'll see if I can find the thread

Can't find the thread, I looked last night, but for pictures, have a look at www.ecs.soton.ac.uk/~clc202/earthlight/index.htm
I can't see the server atm, but it should be up.
