Interior light

Post by classicswede »

The interior light only works on the drivers door.
I've tryied shorting the other swithes but nothing happens.
I asume a wire must have come off or broken.

Where do they all join up?

I think this is the most likely place for the problem.

Thanks
Dai

From what I remember Dai, Vicky's car has switches on the rear doors, which arn't standard, finding where abouts they go would be useful! As for the standard wiring, look under the dash, I think from memory, it's the bulb holder that splits the wire to each side, and remember that the switches have a constant 12V on one side, and switching grounds the light, it doesn't supply the power (that took me a while to suss when I was buzzing the system out with multimeter one day)

I have had a look and found the drivers wire goes to a multiblock of 4 seperate wires(my scrapper only has 3)

When you say they connect to the bulb is that the one under the dash of above the screen?

Under the dash I think, it's only from memory though, but I remember there being 2 pairs of wires going to that bulbs, reds and pinks I think

Umm all the wiring looks to be in place. I've been fidling about with the wiring with my current project. I dicided the only way to sort it was to put a wire from each witch to the drivers wiring.

So I ran a wire across from the front pass and was about to connect it when I opened the passenger door and the light came on :?

Its now working all ok! :D

Just need to sort the rears.

I can't remember before, but neither rear door operated the roof light as of yesterday on ours, any other of you have lights or not?

Where are your switches?

The switches have always been there.
It's just only the drivers door that has worked sine we had the car.

All will be working correctly or better by the end of the week

The switches in the rear doors would have been for an alarm system. You'll probably find a switch in the bonnet too. Some 300s had an aftermarket alarm fitted. My 360 did, damn thing seemed to be wired in to everything. A lot to undo cos I didn't have a fob anyway.
