Special protection for the headlights

Post by Duvel78 »

I've found 2 brand new headlights for my 340 and I would go crazy if a stone break them. I've seen that cars in UK (often) have a plastic protection to protect the headlights. I never saw that on cars in Belgium and I have no idea if that accessory can be found. Where do you find that in UK? For how much? And what about the size, you have to cut the plastic?

Damn, I don't know if you can still get them for 340s, and I can't think of a car with similar shaped headlights that would make a good substitute.

It looks like custom made ones will have to suffice. :/

I think it is rather easy to cut correct shape from clear plastic. Then use sandpaper to edges, from 200-800 so you will get professional look ;)

Mounting is easy if you glue some suckcups, or what they are called, onto plastic. Other clamps are rather easy to made too as plastic is good(easy) material to work with.

I have made my headlightights glass smooth with Cleaner wax ;) Mirrors in headlights are still dimmed, maybe I buy those someday. But those have to be enough now, until I get fuel injection :D

I have headlight protectors made by a company called EGR. You can buy them (not necessarily EGR ones) at www.volvoclub.org.uk

cheers

Good point, aye. It's not like your car's in show condition anyway, so it doesn't so much matter about how they look. :)

(I didn't mean that in a spiteful way :) )

By implication you're suggesting mine is in show condition. You obviously haven't seen it... :D

I bought them as part of a package of second hand parts, but I think they're about £30 new. You can look it up on the VOC site anyway.

cheers
