Wow, thank you Figdad!!!

I’ve noodled through a few amps over the years. Most memorable have been:

1960s Vox AC-30. One of the valve rectified Top Boost models with blue cones. Very special and in a different league to the later amps with solid-state bridge.
1970s Orange Overdrive 120. 120 Watts of thermionic goodness into a 4x12 which seemed to weigh more than a 960. Very frightening beasty indeed.

However, I have now seen the top of the mountain. One Power Resistor Of Justice and one 1W Marshall mini stack. It has to be heard to be believed.

speaking as a citizen of Milton Keynes (where they are made ) you simply cannot beat Marshall amps

That's a real pity!

I lump marshall and mesa together, in that they're ok, but not worht the money they cost.

Now, amps that ARE worth the price:

Laney
Carvin
Cornford

It's OK, some people have known for a long time that you can beat a Marshall. This gentleman seems to enjoy doing so with a Fender Telecaster. Great days...

All I can say is that since I fitted a Power Resistor of Justice to my mobile phone, I've been able to call anywhere in the world directly, without messing around with networks. Although I'm not very happy about the way that it makes my hand and head glow green with all that juice coming out of the aerial...

Erm, Tovill and Dean, Su Pollard Ken Clarke. I think I’d better stop now.

However, to be totally honest, things ain’t what they used to be. A friend is a professor of mathematics at Nott’m Uni; he tells me that they are finding it hard to get new students as people now associate Nottingham with gun crime. Also, I believe that a Channel 4 poll rated Nottingham as the 2nd worse place to live. I like it though!
