instrument panel lights going off

Post by brad360 »

Sometimes the lights on my speedo&tacho go out, maybe for a few seconds or a few minutes, usually they come on again when I go over a bump.

Any ideas where a loose connection might be?

**

Also my front fog lights stopped working, both at the same time, there is no blown fuse, the rear fog light still works. Any ideas?

**

I've owned my 360GLT for almost a year now, only done 3500km, now up to 141,500km, no big problems so far.

There are back in your speedometer two seams which are loose..I had same trouble in my 340. You have to remove interiorshield under steering wheel and just put your hand back in speedometer.

Foglights..have you checked foglight bulbs? There are extra fusebox for foglights in left fender

yeah i'd say it sounds like the multi-pin plugs as well. probably one just coming a bit loose.

fog lights

Post by brad360 »

I guessed because both foglights went at the same time that it would not be the bulbs, so I have not checked them.

I didn't know about the foglight fuses in left mudguard/fender, will have a look. thanks

yep..if fuses arent blown in extrafusebox then check wiring. There arent many options for that trouble.--->bulbs,fuses and wiring, these are ONLY options for it.
I suggest to look first bulbs(they were ok) then start from foglights and follow wirings to fusebox. If fuses are ok then check ALL plugs from foglightwires, also in fusebox rightside in your car. There are headlightrelays.

OT:I had same trouble with foglights and fault were in plugs.
And once i was "cruising" my ex-girlfriend noticed some smell and smoke in cabin.I stopped and pulled bonnet up and I saw foglightwires burning!!
It was my own stupidness..I didnt had fuses in electricwire which came straight from battery  ..fortunately I was quick and snapped wires off and saved car from burning

When mine didn't work it was the relay located behind the battery on GLT models. I swapped the relay, which didn't work, replaced it with the old one, and they worked, probably as by pushing and pulling two relays in and out of the connectors it cleaned any corrosion off and made contact. The relay was still making a noise whne they weren't working, so it was probably only one connection causing the problem.
