Insurance RAAAARRRR

Post by foggyjames »

I just opened my policy renewal. They've wiped out my NCD due to the Polak incident, although NO claim was made, and it WASN'T my fault. Chris Knott are going to get a VERY angry call in the morning. That is all...

cheers

Sorry to hear that dude, hope it all gets sorted with a happy customer in the end. Any reason as to why the NCB has been wiped?

"Reduced due to accident/loss in the last policy year"

Last time I checked it was a "No CLAIM bonus". I didn't claim a penny - I can't - I'm TPFT. They sent around an investigator to cover their own ass in case he gets all 'claims direct' on them.

This'd better be bloody good...

cheers

Tesco did the same to me last year after I cancelled my policy with them. An angry phone call soon got them reinstated and proof of them sent out to me!

As an aside, one of my housemates is called Chris Knott. He gets quite a bit of stick for insuring his car with his namesakes :)

Bar Stewards... I'm insured with Chris Knott too - hope you get it sorted, they've seemed fairly helpful when I've spoke to them anyway. But to sum it all up, insurance is a bloody joke!

You'll get it sorted out, has happened to me when i've had a non fault accident and never claimed.

What was your renewal price with the lack of NCB out of interest???

From CK, about £700

All sorted. It turns out (although they didn't say this) that it's industry-wide practice to 'suspend' NCB for a year after an incident involving a pedestrian. Only 1% guilt is required to secure a payout to a ped, apparantly. Once the year is up, assuming no claim has been made, the NCB is re-instated, and a refund will be given by the insurer in question. If the cretin were to claim, I'd order them not to pay out, and that he can pursue me privately in court if he's that desperate. Suck on that, claims direct!

So, to summarise, I'll be out of pocket for 6 months, but it'll all work out in the end. But yes, they're all bastards.

cheers

It is incredible how these insurance companies have ads where they claim that they really care about individual customer, we have even one that claims that it is owned by customers, but still when you have something business with them it is really pita and usually that ad's nice words are forgotten.

Track days are really difficult thing, some companies will cover them, but usually when accident does happen they will look some way to be not paying, however at same time there is no possibility to get reasonable priced trackday insurance. So one need to be prepared to pay everything from his own pocket.

Yep, they are bastards indeed.
