Is it possible to get any pictures of the car? of the worst areas of rust perhaps. Also, what mileage has the car done? and does it require both the middle section and rearbox because theyre actually blowing, or are they just getting on a bit?

Will get some pictures tomorrow after i have cleaned it.

The centre box had a hole in it, which i patched up and its now not blowing, but both sections are severely dented. Also the middle mount is broke, but i made up my own - its crude but it does the job! The exhuast works fine and i'd probably leave it how it was for a while, but thats up to the new owner. One wheel cylinder is now done, and so are the brake shoes. Howver the other cylinder (nearside) is weeping slightly, nothing too major. Also noticed the the outer cv boot has split where the exhuast banged on it, i have patched it up (again crude!), but will require a new one. I may do it tomorrow if i have time.

Its done about 111000 miles.

Look forward to seeing the pics, most of the faults sound relatively small. No other damage caused by the road rallying? I think I read there's a 'job lot' of 360 exhausts about on here somewhere as well. The mileage is pretty low for one of these beasts..

By the way, what were the other wheels that you had on out of interest?

Well the underneath is a bit dented, but you wouldnt know unless you looked underneath (i will try and get some pictures of it).

But theres no other damage as far as i know. Foggyjames is getting a load of exhuasts, he definatealy has a centre section as i said i was gonna have it.

Now i've sorted the headgasket out the car starts fisrt time and runs well and pulls nicely at all revs.

I'm putting the old alloys and tyres back on (175/65/14 tyres). The other set have a much better set of tyres (185/60/14 uniroyals). If you wanted them i may consider selling them too, but 2 of the tyres are brand new, 1 has a small bulge in the sidewall (ooops) and the other has a couple of chunks taken out the sidewall (oooops again).
I may take the tyres off and keep them for another car and sell the wheels on, depends if anyone is interested.
Bot sets of alloys are the same (as seen on the pic of my care in the other thread).

Ok, thanks for the details, doesn't sound like anything to worry about - the main thing is that the cambelt has been changed recently

Seems a bit of a cheek, seeing as I'm the potential buyer but would you be ok with meeting somewhere half way, maybe if I contributed to travel expenses or something - the distance is the only real problem for me

If it gets the car out of the way i'd be happy to travel a bit. If you gave me a bit of cash for doing so that would be a bonus!

The car looks nice from the pics - paint seems to shine up nicely. Is there a dent in the rear door, or is that the water drying?

Any obvious/big dent/scratches/rust on the other side? Haven't seen a pic of that. I'm right in thinking the interior is in good condition? Think you've said before. Also, any chips in the windscreen? Sorry for all the questions - just don't want to waste anyones time with the distance thing. Where would you be prepared to meet, between you and Birmingham?

Theres no big dents anywhere on the car, although there are a few little ones. The paintwork is bubbling in a few places, mostly on the rear passenger side arch. There is a small chip in the windscreen from a stone thats been there since i got the car. The rear bumper has been painted by someone and the paint is flaking off. Theres a few light scraches down the passenger side, put i think they would come out with a polish. Will try and do that tmrw.
The interior is in good condition, no rips, burns etc on the seats, although i noticed a small rip in the headlining and the back with i was looking in the mirror the other day, but nothing major. The cigerette light is missing, and the panel around it is cracked as i wired a map light through it, and was rushing with no proper tools!
The boot struts dont hold the boot up (i think this is standard fit though

)

I'm trying to be as honest as possible since i dont want to waste your time. Basically the engine is good, the body work is mostly unbent and looks OK but could do with tidying and the interior is good.

I've got some more photos now, which i will put online in a bit

I'm not really sure where would be best to meet, without looking at a map i would say Oxford, but that could be in totally the wrong direction

Thanks for being thorough!

I wont worry about the struts, I'm used to being smacked in the head with a Volvo hatch from when my parents had 2 345s

Is the windscreen chip outside of the drivers line of vision? I trust the clutch and gearbox are fine?

I'll take a look at the new pics when they're up, thanks. I also thought of Oxford, it pretty much smack bang in the middle, should be about an hour away.

Another thing i thought of is that the drivers side front wing has some discoloured paintwork. The front half is a slightly different shade. Not sure if a previous owner put a scratch in it or something.
Also the plastic bit at the top of the rear bumpers curves up for some reason (see pic). Hmm i seem to be finding a lot of stuff thas wrong with the car, would understand if you didnt want it now!!! On the plus side, note that it has the obligatory towbar

I see that chip everyday, but i cant think where it is. I think its roughly in the middle, possibly slightly into the drivers view. I've locked he car away in the garage now, but i will have a look and confirm tomorrow.

I do still like the car, can't beat a black 360GLT and the interior is nice too - gotta love volvo seats!

The problems are minor for its age really, sure the bumper can be straightened

I'll get back to you tomorrow on a final decision. Thanks again for your patience, hope I haven't asked too many obvious questions - don't want to waste your time either!

Ok.. I've had a think, in light of some of the problems would you accept an offer of £200, and £40 for petrol and train back. I'm not sure if this is too low for you, let me know what you think. Also, are the clutch and 'box good? Silly questions I know, just making sure lol

Yes, i'd be happy with that. As i said it needs to go!

Both the clutch and box seem fine, havent had any problems with them.

Just need to arrange a swap now

When and where would be the best for you? Weekdays are out as i have to work, but evenings i can do. I'm picking up my new car next saturday but can probably do sunday. Let me know what you think...
