A rare Volvo find (that's for sale)

Post by Carl »

I went down to my Dad's workshop today to use the ramp to have a good look at my new BX, and found this in there:

A 145 De luxe with B20A engine! It's virtually in mint condition, with about 60k on the clock (I think) and just one owner. Been dry stored in a garage and unused for the last 10 years. It even has the original manual and service records, along with an RAC pack. Not a spot of rust - underneath is all undersealed and looks brand new, even the engine bay is clean. The only problem (that I could see) was a nasty scratch down the n/s/r quarter.

Anyways, they are draining the old fuel out and putting all new fluids in it, refurbing the wheels and then it'll be for sale. Does anyone have any idea what it's worth? Or would anyone be interested?

If I had the money I'd love to buy it for some retro motoring!

Pre 73 cars are free, and L reg is Aug 72 - July 73 so maybe, maybe not :)

I reckon its gotta be worth a couple of grand. Could be well off the mark though!

Listen to Lovejoy with his antique white fivers

Tis a nice looking motor, just to up the ante: I can offer 85 360 3dr 46k with some service history and I'll also throw in 2 jars of me mum's homemade jam and 3lb of rhubarb.

Let me know if that's any good-thanks

Hmm not a rhubarb fan I'm afraid. And besides, since it's not actually mine it might be a bit cheeky if I accept any of your generous offers :)

Hi Carl,

Free road tax depends on when a car was built - not registered and from memory I think 'your' 145 was built before 73. 1973 yr.models were available from October 72 and like the 74s had the enormous box girder bumpers - which this does not have. Looks really good though - I am very tempted (but 'she who must be obeyed' won't let me replace her 400).

As with anything it's only worth what someone will pay but I reckon it's well worth advertising it on the VOC forum.

Mac.

Dad said that the owner is gonna put it on ebay. I suggested that the owner should try the VOC site first, whether he will or not I'm not sure.
