Santa Pod

Went up to Santa Pod yesterday for the end of season show. Great day, until this happened in the evening:

Scary stuff, but the driver managed to get out ok, probably a bit singed though!!

More pics here if anyone is interested:

And more vids on You Tube under my username.

Heh, was wondering if someone would notice that :)

I think the chute was the reaction of something going tits up in the engine TBH. Either way not something I'd like to experience again in a hurry!

I was more worried for the driver TBH, first thing that went through my mind was that I've just seen a guy burnt alive, not a pleasant thought!

But of course then you think, theres a tank of aviation fuel in there somewhere and I'm about 20m away.... One of the first things the guy on the PA said was that last time he saw something like that happen the explosion sent red hot sharp bits of metal out into the crowd. Not a well thought out comment.

But other than that, what a great day ;)

[Beavis] Fire! Fire!

Image

[Butt-head] Settle down Beavis. That is like, uh, one of the coolest things I have ever seen.

[Beavis] Yeh! Fire rules. Fire! Fire! Fire!

[Butt-head] Uh-huh. Yeh, fire rules. I have seen the top of the mountain, and it is good.

[Beavis and Butt-head, ad infinitum] Uh-huh. Hu. Yeh. Huh huh huh...

 Sorry, I just spent the weekend watching 'Beavis and Butt-head, the Mike Judge Collection Vol. 1'. I think it must have done something to my brain.

That is shocking, I'm glad the guy got out alright and that you weren't showered with red hot sharp bits of metal

You must have near enough been in the same place as us then!

Obviously the driver is ok, which is good, but I hate to think how much time and money was invested in that car, all gone up in smoke :(

Oh yeah definately, if you're gonna write off a car and walk away from it you may as well do it in style!
