360 mileometer query

Post by bogbasic »

Hello, the mileometer on my 360 GLE (1988) has packed up. The speedo still works fine but the mileage does not increase anymore and the tachograph (or whatever its called; you know the thing I mean) has stopped too. Any clues on whether it can be fixed or should I replace the unit. Is replacement an easy job?? Can a speedo from a 340 be slotted in or is it different?

Any clues, very much appreciated. Cheers, bogbasic.

340 speedo will work fine........ and will fit in place. Andy, Pettaw successfully repaired his in his 360 on the second go once he's figured out exactly what was happening. He's be the man to comment on how to do it. He did post it somewhere on here I believe. I've been meaning to look at mine for ages, but was going for the simple drop another speedo unit in place in the cluster, as I have one that is about right for the mileage!

Just remeber you can only replace a VDO unit with a VDO unit and a Smiths with a Smiths.
