I just found out somthing interesting (steering boss)

Post by germ »

I was messing around with some bosses i have lying around:metro, bmw, etc

and i put the renault 5's original wheel on ... it didnt fit...i then choped of the self canceling thingy....IT FITTED!!! but not sure how well .it turns the wheels and stuff ok no skipping etc. but when the cars ready for the road i will give it more of a test.

i have the renault 5 boss on the renault with a mountny wheel so if all goes well i will be fitting this.

Not sure if this helps any one but it looks possible.

if any one has tryed this tell me....what was wrong before i kill my self on the road :?

It May Just Be That It Dosent Self Cancel.

 R5 wheel is horrid, hopefully that mountney wheel will be going on ;)

Dunno why people struggle to get self cancellers to work - it's not too hard to bodge it, from what I've seen before it's just an L shaped piece that either needs extending or modifying to fit from car to car

So don't worry, I'm sure you'll be able to get the self cancel working with the mountney wheel

Yeah, I don't know why people havn't bodged it! I really should get a wheel for my Astrali boss at some point I guess!! As long as the splines are a tight fit you'll be alright, does the R5 have the same electrical connections for the horn per chance?

I had an R5 Turbo steering wheel that I bought specifically to try on the 360.
I sold it on.. it would fit with some bodging, but I didnt think the splines matched up nicely enough. This is an essential bit of safety equipment y'know.
