Ali's drift 360 project

Well I've just had a quick ride in it (quick being the operative word) and it's certainly up to snuff. It boosts from basically no revs and holds it all the way to the redline. The compressor stall sounds nice too. My 200sx has around 175 hp and Ali's car feels as fast, if not faster.

Must say, Ali and Andy have done a top job. I'm amazed at how simple it looked to map when I was overlooking a bit of laptop wizardry, its stunning how you can take a car with no ecu or mapping at all, plug in MS and have it working like that.

Proper job.

Errrm compressor chatter is "pigeoning" on smaller turbo's the sound just isn't seperated so much so sounds more like a dump valve than the clear tch tch tch sort of thing

There is no way on earth i'd pull it all apart again, change the engine mounts, bash out the inner wing and make it come on boost later just for a difference in noise lol, it spools nice n early at the moment and no way do I want to get rid of that

Unless you run high boost on a bigger turbo you can hardly hear the pigeon anyway. I'm running the same boost as Ali on a much larger turbo and you can't hear the chatter over the sound of anything else. You'd need to be running higher boost for a noticable noise, which would probably cause the engine to shit a rod.

Ryan's car started chattering nicely at about 22psi...but we only did it once, as it doesn't exactly have enough fuel for that...at the moment

turbo size isnt that relevant to chatter anyhow, fiesta RSTs are a fine example, chatter like fook with a cone filter on em, and they got a tiny T2.

those turbos have dumpvalves as standard, thats the thing attatched to the compressor housing, it bypasses the wheel when open, so if thats not blocked off, and it dont look like it is, no wonder it dont chatter

and S13s dont have much chatter even with a cone filter on as...
A- The AFM is restrictive as hell so muffles the noise.
B- The stock inlet pipe is ribbed to help muffle the noise.

Fit a Z32AFM (or MAP sensor managment) and a metal or smooth inlet pipe, and hey presto, loud chatter on you SX.

Actually there you go, lol, most clear thing on the pic, the standard recirc bypass valve on the compressor is still attatched and plumbed in, so no wonder you not getting much chatter.

Fiesta RST's are the only thing I've really heard it on, but I've got very small tubby knowledge! What is it that chatters anyway? And surely anything that forces that much boost out somewhere it isn't supposed to go is only ever a bad thing, so wtf do they all run like it?
