Maybe it's because of what you're doing, going fast isn't about being agressive with the car, it's about being in control and using smooth moevments and little changes.

Take cornering for an example, if you come to a corner, stamp on the brakes and yank the wheel round you're going to be heading nowhere but the nearest tree.
It's just the same in a straight line, if you are ambling along and stamp on the accelerator, don't be surprised if the car has a bit of a shake and a judder, if you "need" to kick down, do it more gently and the car will respond more positively, alternatively, you could double-declutch and shift down if you're out of the power band.
Lifting off suddenly is very bad too. Especially, as I suspect you are doing by the jerk, if you're doing it quite high in the rev range. You're just going to introduce a lot of engine braking, which is not only bad for you and your passengers, but not going to do anything to prolong the life of your engine. Try using your clutch and brakes, it's what they're there for.

I haven't ever got shifter knob off, you are using too much force and pulling it to wrong directions.

Learn to feel the box, there is some level of shifting speed that can't be rushed no matter what, shift with determination, but don't use force, always move shifter straight, so for example from 2nd to 3rd it is push up, release push up again, if you move shifter even a bit to side same time you will cause more wear and tear to box, same if you rest your hand at shifter.

If you go fast you don't need to be shifting all the time and certainly don't need to rush changes, speed is to be found completely different places.

On public streets you should not have problems like this as there is no point going fast on public roads, it will just cause bad name to all drivers that enjoy driving smooth and good speed as flower hats can't separate brainless chav from safe and quick driver...

For example last week I was overtook by a lorry at 60kph area when I was doing 62-65kph, then at 80kph area I kept up with it, he overtook other car at blind corner on narrow road and pushed really hard, I did not need to, bit later I did overtook him as speed limit turned to 100kph and lorry has limiter that won't allow it go faster than 89kph, what was big idea of his with that rushing and reckless driving? People should use more brains and less feeling when driving on public roads, imo.

Or possibly the shifter knob could be slightly split and slightly loose  Acceleration and deceleration enrichment settings are not as smooth as with more modern cars with more sophisticated fuelling.

However.......public road is not a rally/race circuit. The place for your Volvo is not the nearest tree.....aiiggght.

I have driven Volvo that had shifter knob loose, it was easy to take it off, but never even with that I had it happening by accident even I did quick gear change, practise more, no need to pull stick up when changing gears ;)

Nessy's was loose enough that a 'quick' gearchange would make it fall off.

right i need to get some paint for this car. anyone know the paintcode just to make it easier for me? (its white)

if i get a rattlecan or two from volvo will the paint match exactly? what about halfords?

how many will i roughly need as i have to spray my tailgate and also my rear arches? do you think i could get away with spraying just the arches on their own or will i have to do the whole rear section so it blends in?

cheers guys.

With a bit of practice, you should be able to get the arches to blend in pretty well. The tailgate will probably take a bit more practice, and I'd be tempted to take that to a pro.

The paint code is on the plate under the bonnet. It's usually in the format xxx-x. I've found the Volvo paint is a very good match for the 360, and a bad match for Nessy (which is the same colour as your car), but Nessy's paint is baaaad, so that's probably not Volvo's fault.

cheers

The problem with Nessy is probably due to Dulux

It depends if you want loads of dents in your doors every time someone parks too close in the supermarket car park...

GLT's look better with the chunky strips anyway - they match the c/c bumpers... you could try heating the glue up and or a sharp thin blade...

Yeah, its very difficult to do cleanly. You can get the strips off by prising them off, but then you have to very carefully warm the glue residue up and rub it off with plenty of solvent. I seem to remember I used white spirits, but it might have been cellulose thinners. Be careful though, you might rub through the paint.
