My sister has recently got herself an enormous house on the South bank of Loch Ness near Dores - it used to be the summer house for a nearby pink castle and has the most stunning views from the front.
Had to get my brother-in-law to move his very capable yet pretty rough looking Lada Niva out the way for those shots. Great fun driving it round the garden!
Went to Applecross and also Kinlochourn on fantastic roads, but lost all pics due to a memory card error

Nearly hit a roe deer on this stretch hidden in a dip in the road - the Stebel airhorn came in useful once again! Airhorn was also great for the motorway and getting slow tourists to move over on single track roads to let you overtake - everyone should have one.
Deer are a real problem up there, especially at night. Red deer are quite big, a car will take out the legs with the front bumper and then the body will come through the passenger compartment... Can be messy - the Scandinavians will know what I'm talking about. Take warning signs seriously and look out for their eyes reflecting back at you from the sides of the road at night.
They've replaced the old stone bridge on the A82 through Glencoe since I last noticed:
On my travels I have learnt that I definitely need stiffer rear suspension, and that my 360 doesn't really like water.
Coming over the A9 we drove through the most intense rain storm I have ever seen. There was a sheet of water about 4 inches thick over the entire road surface. The clutch got wet and started to slip - anyone else ever had this? It would not have been a good place to break down so I went for the do or die approach and floored it. This boiled off the water from the plate and I had drive again.
Later, there were floods in Dores. I was by myself in the car so was probably blasting through the standing water a little too fast. I think it was the coil that got wet, definitely something on the nearside anyway. I didn't have any WD40 and neither did any of the five cars who stopped to see if I needed help, so just waited for it to dry out and was on my way.
I'll be renewing all the connections to the coil at some point (there's a lot of them, isn't there
) - and will want to seal them somehow, resin? Anyone got any ideas? May swap to a flamethrower unit while I'm at it.Anyway - Scotland was fun. We'll definitely be moving up to the highlands within the next couple of years. My daughter would suit a Scottish accent and it's time I did something less stressful than looking after other people's dying children and started doing something a bit more fun!
