Lookin' awesome! Thought about posting it on Turbobricks?
The VOC are hosting 'the National' / Best Kept Volvo show in a couple of weeks near Aylesbury. It's probably the biggest Volvo show in the country each year. It'd be great to see you and the car, if you're around.
cheers
James

Looks brilliant! the only suggestion I'd have is that if you want your car to run cooler, then I'd get rid of the raised bonnet near the windscreen (unless it's so the bonnet is clearing something in the engine bay) as it will be doing you no favours like that.
Keep up the good work!

Minilites look fine as long as their size is in the correct proportion to the rest of the car

raising the bonnet normaly does tend to aid cooling.Jason B wrote:Looks brilliant! the only suggestion I'd have is that if you want your car to run cooler, then I'd get rid of the raised bonnet near the windscreen (unless it's so the bonnet is clearing something in the engine bay) as it will be doing you no favours like that.

hence why some street rods have the vent by the windscreen on charger hoods. it helps pull it in due to pressure drop or something.

hmm , cams ,valves springs all need to be considered in the valve float issue aswell as the actual poundage on the seat .
all voc(volvo original cup) guys use teh std valvetrain but they obviously working to a formula .
the cam manufacturer will give you the best advice on the cam you want to run all other things being equal 6500 rpm should be fine on the stock valvetrain , and you shouldnt be revving it any higher than that to make 250 hp .
the grasstracking 8v had buckets like SpM ones with the shim under the follower to allow for a better profile with double valve springs , still , the powerband was only 7 to 7500 rpm tops .
as far as enem cams go anything peakier than a v16 needs some valvetrain work .
the only thing that prevents me from working with these cars is the torque tube , splined shaft . Its a massive cockup from volvo as far as im concerned

I have fairly modest NA power goals... about 160ish bhp, I have an H-cam (more for the fact that its a bit rare than power) will probably be upping the scr a bit along with some port matching and hopefully megasquirt to fuel and spark it. Also will be running a 2.5" exhaust as it can free up about another 8-10bhp from looking at the differences between b230fb's and b230fx's. Obviously it will be revved as required to keep making the torquez until it comes off cam
@kaos - sadly this is a bit of a car myth, you'll more than likely create a flow stall at the bonnet/windscreen interface and basically stop air flowing across the radiator. I've not looked at big streetrod scoops and how they work, but certainly for raising the back edge of the bonnet it wont do you any good. An easy test is to have the back edge raised and stick some bits of wool to it and then go for a drive. If I'm right it will probably get sucked under the bonnet at higher speeds. Here is a basic pic, the red bits are higher pressure regions.
