Whining Fuel Pump

Post by Figgy » 14 Jul 2008 02:24 pm

The fuel pump in my daughters 360 GLT hatch is very noisy/whiney, when the car is idling you can hear it clearly, it's louder than the engine...is this normal or should we get a new one?

If we should get a new one, does anyone know the approximate cost?

Thanks in advance.

if this noise has come up quite suddenly, the pump might be on its way out soon enough.

In any case it is not supposed to be louder than the engine at idle!!!

i'd say; replace it.

Thanks for that, we've only had the car a short time and it's just had a wheel beaaring replaced so have never been able to hear the fuel pump before this...when we got it, the bearing noise was drowning out all other sound. lol

Does anyone know the approximate cost for a fuel pump?

Also can I get one somewhere besides a volvo dealer?
