bolt-in (FIA) cage, where to get?

Post by Frits »

As i'm getting further being (somehow  ) proffesional, I really need a cage.

I'm looking for a bolt-in cage, so I will be able to put it in a different body at some time. I want a FIA cage, because I still want to do rally's in the future.

www.heigo.de

Are this the only ones? I don't understand anything about the swedisch site however.

As I am next to germany, the Heigo cage is a good option. But I want to see more before I make a desicion.

Anyone?

Cheers

I am looking for a cage for rally desperately!!!! - Safety devices still make one, but I was told it would cost me £726! (which is a lot for an alledgedly poor quality cage)

If you make any progress please keep me updated, as I could possibly reduce the cost by buying two cages at the same time?

Cheers

Dont think Pedersen racing make group discount, sells enough cages as it is. They cost around 300£ pluss shipping.. BTW, You need to weld it yourself..

I figured that :), £300 is a great price and getting someone to weld it properly isn't hard. Do you mean they are bolt-in and its just plates that need welding to the floor, or the cage is a weld-in style?

From pedersen you get only the pipes, bend and drawings etc. welding and measurement you`ll have to do for yourself. But it is pretty simple
And nice fitment, I am hoping to get one in as soon as the season is over

ok, so how much actual work needs to be done to fit it all together - and I wonder how much shipping would cost? - just gauging a rough price

If I can finalise a price for someone friendly to weld it for me then I'll be getting one I think

I probably can't use the petersen cage, as its not (FIA) legal to weld your own cage. So I can't use it for rally in Holland. For drifting it would be ok, but not for rally. Besides, when I build a "new" car, I would need a new cage too. Not a long term decision.

Still thinking about the Heigo cage. It will be between 1100 and 1200 euro (about 900 pounds) max for the most complete one. And with certificate for competition use.

petersens cage can be FIA legal, it just needs to be welded by someone who is "coded"in that type of welding iirc - Obviously that means you'd need to find someone to do it but it would probably be cheaper than the heigo one and could easily be made as a bolt-in style. (though the heigo one does look very good!)
