340 1.4 non fire.
Right.
ive just brought another 340 b14
the guy laid it up a year ago. and now it wont start. it'll run if you put fuel in the carb.
Now ive removed the fuel pump from the block and hand pumped it. 5 minutes later form having ntohing spraying out of the top, it now sprays evenly. so its been bolted back on to the block and pumps out fine when cranked so i can safely assume the fuel pump isnt fubar.
now with the pipe connected back to it and removed from the carb, nothing travels up the pipe.
So im thinking blocked pipe only?
Any one else got other ideas.
And for more information:
shes a 5 door
1.4
Catalyst model
Heated seats
Lumbar support
5 speed box

well from carb to pump, i have a rubber hose.
with the pipe of the fuel pump( this is the carb to fuel pump pipe) it will spray skywards nicely. Hence me thinking it cant be the pump. I was already prepared to have to buy a new pump. but thought i'd check first. now i can swap to another bit of hose as i have some vaccum hose i can play with and for a minute or so that might be an idea to test if its blocked pipe
any other ideas?

As it's stood for so long, the petrol could be stale. The additives evaporate very quickly from modern petrol, try running a hose from the pump to a jerry can of fresh stuff and see if that works.
This is all assuming you've already checked for spark.

Filthy,
No fuel reaches the carb. sparks fine as it runs if you put petrol in the carb eg pour some down the barrel.
it'll flow from the pump fine out of the top hose attachment but the minute the hose is on nothing seems to go from the pump and travel up the hose.
i'll try later with a bit of the vacum hose from my other volvo. which is see through. see if it travels or not
