As title, killed another. I'll check whether the clutch output shaft is damaged too, if it is, consider this request null and void as I'll be converting it to manual instead.

Still haven't had a look at it, spent today changing shock oil and polybushes on the blue 3dr.
I think this time it was down to sudden load on the prop: I got a bit out of shape on a slippery roundabout (wasn't really going for it because I was trying to be gentle with this one), floored it and corrected but then hit a patch of dry tarmac, jolted forwards as it gripped, and lost drive.
On the NS bellhousing mount there are two slots for the engine mount. Which one should I use? The mounts are a bit saggy, and the uneven idle lets it rock pretty severely, to the point that the ignition live to the starter keeps coming loose.

There is only one way to mount it in those slides. But If you lift the engine a bit, and mount it in the upperpart, it will automaticly hang higher.
Use the prop as a guide-line. Stick it on the engine, and see how high it will go, and how low it will go, on the end, near the transmission. Then lift the engine, till it will go just as much over the transmission, as under....
do you get it? My english is Terrible!!

Dai if you can get me one before the weekend I'll be your best mate forever! I was going to get my two broken ones cut and shut into one good one, but I'd be happier with a real one TBH. PM coming.
So am I supposed to use the higher slot? That's what it's in now. I think I was just being too rough really.

John PM sent.
is it the splines that have gone or the rubber that has broken? I sould think the splines on a vario are very unlikely to go. Are uprated vario props in order??

Well I do rember changing loads of mk1 and 2 props but quite rare for the rubber to go on mk3's. I asume volvo must have changed the rubber/bonding method on late cars. With that vario's hardly ever went at all from memory.
