wiring

Post by rems »

hi all

just woundering has anybody had this problem

i have fitted an after market radio and had to redo some of the wiring as it was on a bodge (not that mine is any better but i know mine aint as bad as what it was  )

anyway cutting to the point

i have sorted all the speaker wires however

i have 2 red and black wires which i think are the same wire linked up to the ignition wire on the radio but when the 2 red and black wires are not connected to eachother the dash lights dont light up

a green wire which is a constant live which is the memory

and a black wire which is earth

oh and a random brown wire which has no power from it atal so its not connected to anything

sounds fine but i have a slight feeling that the ignition wire is incorrect due to the fact that when i turn my lights on or put high beam on m radio cuts out then works agen, so if the 2 black and red wires are the dash lights and are just used for the live on the radio where or what colour is the ignition wire?

soz if none of that makes sence its the best i could do to explain it

cheers

Any brown on a 300 is earth (well... on the stock wiring) Yes, the black with red stripey pair are dubiously connected in the radio plug, keep them connected! Green is the other power (unswitched... ) The one I can't remember is straight black and the wiring diagrams are less than helpful for the radio!

I had this exact same problem a while back and I can't remember what sorted it! Yay for alcohol-induced memory degeneration!

Maybe it was actually the alchohol itself that solved your problem.
Solves all mine.

Apart from my terrible terrible alchohol problem.

IIRC you have to keep all the pairs etc together otherwise you loose dash lights etc and it wont work.
