headlight problem and more....
headlight problem and more....
hi guys as always my 340 has a problem
Mot was today and well it failed on a few things which are all sorted now.
basicaly headlights work, but when you flick back and forth between mainbeam, they act like a flasher relay. as in onofonofonofon
like an emergency vehicle. Any one have any clues??????
also, my door handles hanging off which effects locking and unlocking of the vehicle, any ideas for a fix? super glue?

Re: headlight problem and more....
Umm.. I'm not quite sure what you mean by on-off. If the light switch is in position 0 the high beams should only be flash-only. So those won't stay on if the light switch is in position 0. In position 2 you can switch on the high beams.
Or do the lights flash continously in some position? If that's the case then the realy is bad.

Re: headlight problem and more....
Relay bad or connection bad, specially if you have bad ground/earth it can do funny things. Those are my guesses at least.
Re: headlight problem and more....
Yeah, relay is cutting in and out, listen to the silver one in the fuse box whilst you do it, I'd imagine it's buzzing. Bad earth or bad connection on the multiplugs the other side of those in the fusebox (under dash, you'll see them) pull off, abuse with Ultrasolve, wiggle about a bit!

Re: headlight problem and more....
bulb dial to 2!
then use the stalk control to flip between ful and main, thats where it flashes mainly. on using the full beam switch. so if you do it normaly youve got only one working. but if you switching it over and over it just flashes each light at a time so left right left right if you follow?
i'll look at the silver relay and the multi plug

Re: headlight problem and more....
Hang on, the headlights flash alternatively... Ok, I missed that
Still, it'll be the big relay on the passenger side of the fusebox if any, and add to that list the earths on the headlamp units to the chassis. Take them off, clean up with some ultra solve, and put back.

Re: headlight problem and more....
Is there relay that switches between two outputs at set interval? If there is, then someone could been funny and added that to it
Re: headlight problem and more....
With regards to the door handle the screw may have come out at the back.
If you only just purchased the car maybe someone has been funny and put in a emergency services style relay which causes the lights to alternate side to side on high beams (easily purchased for a bit of fun), but check the relays connections and earths. If you have a spare relay try it first to see if that's your problem.
