The Battleship,Williams, sentenced to death!
Re: The Battleship, Williams powahz, exhaust pics
Yeah yor probably right, if i can catch it before it goes as you say cheaper and saves swapping on another diff.
You can see in the underneath pictures there is and had been a bit of weepage going on for some time, i'll get onto it.
Also need new brake pads as the old ones are very nearly on the backing plates, does anyone do green stuff pads in standard fitment?

Black diamond predator pads are available. From elk parts apparently, I have some but I'm not the original buyer.

That is starting to look nails!
But a question - do side exit exhausts affect performance/do anything apart from looking cool?

Thanks for that John, i'll look into it. My Ultralites have gone from silver to looking like they are painted black in 2 weeks or so

Cheers mate. I'm pretty sure a side exit won't affect performance, but i could be wrong, any exhaust experts care to elaborate?
I thought it felt slower at first, but i'm begining to think it's just because it's now quieter, noise= brain equating more speed perhaps?
I only went side exit to try and gain more clearance but i'm thinking now one out the back would have been better for that, but i believe it makes it quite tight between rear axle and body/fuel tank once the rear blocks are fitted.

i just searched http://www.elkparts.com/ and they seem to be a Saab specialist, am i missing something, or does a Saab model share the same brake pads as the 300?
Alternatively are you using your ones, want to sell me them?

Yeah I'm doing my best to wear mine out LOL. The lad I got them off said he bought them from elkparts, but that you had to phone them as they aren't on the site. You could look for performance pads for audi 100s, the pads are the same.

Re: The Battleship, Williams powahz, exhaust pics
Cheers for the link Adam : without sounding a bit retarded (not difficult i know) i have an 89 1.4 so thats what i'd need to order right as they seem to do quite a collection, anyone tried their drilled/grooved discs, could be tempted by those aswell if they are standard size, although not cheap.
Also thanks for the heads up John, i was unaware of that so will now go in hunt of the cheapest upgrade available
Any idea what year 100's as you can get green/yellow/red stuff pads for them. Cheers

Be weary as i think the audi pads are only the same as the early 300's when they had 2pot calipers...

Re: The Battleship, Williams, lowering dilema??
Righty ho then guys, who's lowered their car, hands up i want to see them.
So whats the deal, have i just got the wrong offset wheels? Basically i had my new tyres fitted today, but i've come across a problem.
The front arch has some sort of "block" on the inside which holds the wing, which means if i put my dropped springs on, the front tyres are going to catch on it. How have you got around this, did you just use skinnier wheels/tyres in the 1st place or what? I'm sure i've seen ,loads of lowered 300's on Mimilites or similar, so whats the deal?
Have i just got the wrong offset, i'm confused and quite drunk at the moment, i can't see how it's going to work
If i can't lower it i'm just going to put the stiffer shocks on and see how that helps. I'll get pics up tomo to hopefully explain my dilema.

Re: The Battleship, Williams, lowering dilema??
I think the problem you are facing is your running wheels with a neg offset so far away from the standard volvo offset, this on a lowered 300 with incorrect tyre profiles is fine because the tyre is nowhere near the arch. My car is on 35mm offset wheels and is fine.

Do it JDM stylee (skip first 5mins to get good part that starts around 6 minutes):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wxmw-4A0DEQ
He just tells you how to do it different ways first and then he shows easy way to do it, which starts around 6 minutes, good tips there

Re: The Battleship, Williams, lowering dilema??
Booolacks, so basically i have the wrong wheels
The thing is, it's much better with the higher profile tyres, it doesn't clonk and bang through pot holes anymore, a much more refind ride, but i want it to be lower. Plus the speedo is slightly more acurate.
My mate put the spare/old tyres on to one of the stock rims and i think they look pretty cool, just i like dish, so i presume dish and Volvo's= not compatible?
The vid is cool, good find, the rears aren't an issue, they will roll easy, just the fronts have the wing mounting block so it's not possible i don't think. Put's to bed the Lotus alloys ever fitting then
