cheers Theo!
Dampers fitted and adjusted. No more snoop dog bouncing around!

Got them mid way, which is still pretty freakin hard, so we'll see how we go for a bit. With Bristol's roads, it'll no doubt need softening up!
Parts from Adam turn up tomorrow hopefully. Wicked.

had a quick drive in the volvo with the new dampers. Haven't got them set as hard as I thought they would be. Feels spot on. Got the clio coil pack, and work on the swap will begin this evening. And to top it off, its pretty much 20 degrees outside, and sunny. Lovely.

Swap still hasnt happened %&*$£$!!!! A series of unfortunate events has not allowed the guy owning the unit where Im doing the swap to give me the keys to it. Hopefully this afternoon, but Im not holding my breath! I'm still planning on doing a walk through of the swap, documenting stuff so people who want to do it have a good reference. Theres loads of stuff on here about the swap, no step by step guide. Thought I may as well do one!

ah i know how you feel, its either that or something else always getting in the way of plans

glad im not alone with these happenings haha
should deffo do a step by step, that would be extremely useful i think and probably fun to do - i love documentation myself, as long as its to do with something i enjoy and not a college project thats totally irrelevant to my interests

, even to those who aren't planning on doing the conversion im sure it will make great reading

Cheers guys, more incentive to do it now! It'll be next week when I start the swap. My mate who owns the unit seems to have disappeared though
Anyways, it'll start soon I hope. And valman, I know exactly what you mean about college stuff, much rather be doing the swap than coursework.

Alright! Got my engine somewhere thats practically next door to me, so can work on the engine when I please, with no time limit. Lavly! So, started swapping/removing/inspecting and documenting bits of the engine. Got the first pics for the how-too guide too
I then found that my engine has a crude factory oil cooler (just works off the water pipes), so I'll have to run that for now. As of yet I can't find fin a male to male M20 filter adaptor, though I was going to put an thermostatic oil cooler on there later. Also found I only have 1 alternator mount (doh! still need the top one) and still can't find a t-piece for the hose. Ah well! I'll live!
In the meantime I began spraying the rocker cover. Matt black, with multi-coloured paint flecks. I just did the yellow, looks pretty awesome with just that! But I must have more colour! I also made a proper simple mounting plate outa scrap metal for the ecu and coil pack, which mounts to the bolt locations where the spare tyre bracket used to be.
Some pics:
OLD
NEW
Plate mounts here
And the bits fit on here
It'll save me drilling holes through the arches, and bits sticking through the arches catching tyres! It'll be trimmed to size and sprayed tomorrow.
Re: Derrick the Volvo! Engine rocker cover painted etc . . .

So today saw all the bits fitted to the engine I can, cleaning etc, the finishing of the rocker cover and the ECU plate. Have now hopefully sourced the last bit for the engine (top alternator bracket) and then it'll be in starting at the end of next week. Just got coursework to get out of the way!
Opinions on the "art" on the rocker cover are more than welcome

Its been like marmite with my mates (Love/hate) but hey, I love it! Cheers to speedy for the suggestion!
They both turned out real nice.
