Oh, I looked at buying this, Im not going to lie, glad I didnt if it needs welding and a new gearbox. I was going have to drive it back from kent to midwales

It used to belong to someone on here, rwdrules, theo look that thread I had asking for a cheap glt, you posted in it with yours.

Ye the wheels are pretty

How much did you get with it? because he said he had a spare engine and a few bits

Anyway the rest looks pretty mint, just glad i didnt have to made the journey. Have the glt is awsome.

Can i be rude and ask how much? do feel free not to say

Just spotted this thread via the £550 GLT one.

I don't want to talk myself out of selling a box...but can you describe the fault...just no drive? If so, that's most likely to be the coupling you mentioned in your PM. Of course the box has to come out to replace that, so perhaps better to be safe than sorry...!

Performance-wise, Sven is on the money - put a set of Webers (or bike carbs) on it. You can bolt-on a turbo setup, but that's more work. Carbs, cam and exhaust should see 150+bhp. To be fair, the factory cam in a GLT is right enough.

cheers

James

Yeah, we can have a chat about it. My 1981 343 (with 360 engine and running gear) runs a set of Solex carbs (basically the same as Weber DCOE / Dellorto DHLA carbs), and it was a pretty major upgrade...although admittedly my original engine (single carb) was 10bhp down on the GLT to start with.

This is what's sitting under the bonnet...

You need a manifold (~£150 new from KG Trimning and the like), then a pair of carbs. eBay is your friend. The Solexes are cheap (sub £50, often), but parts are harder to find, so they're not so easy to tune. Webers and Dellortos can be more like £200...although I'm not that well up on the latest prices.

cheers

James

and there's quite a bit of quality difference between them, the solex's are harder to tune and of the 3 brands, the most unreliable; second is dellorto's but the "best" are twin webers
i'd save up to buy a pair of webers but a good pair of solex's can be just as much fun if they're tuned correctly

Lots of people said this before I fitted mine, but I have had no problems at all with my Solex carbs, except that it's harder to get parts for them...both rebuild parts and tuning parts (jets, tubes, etc).

cheers

anyone got the bits to run a turbo? Ie: Turbo, Manifold Ect...

would the engine be ok running low psi?

Yeah, the engine will be fine with low boost.

I'd just raid a 940 turbo for parts. Don't forget the ECUs (preferably from a B200FT - 1991-1995 or so) and the loom from a 240 with a cat (1991-1993).

cheers
