well just waiting on the sand/beads to come so i can get it done, probably be a while considering all the bank holidays!!
but today i just done little bit of the lip with some sand paper to see how it will come up.
heres a few pics

i'd leave them alone Theo, why spend time sanding your arse off if the sandblasting gives a neat finish in minutes

looks nice though! would've been even better in 14 or 15" i reckon

was just bored so though i would doo a little bit on one of the wheels to keep me happy ha, ive been on the internet all day searching for the best grit/sand/glass beads for the blasting. think ive found the right stuff for alloys bust still not to sure

glass beads are ideal but expensive, fine sand will do; quite often the finer sands have a lightish grey or even white color.

i'd not worry too much about the type of sand and play with the air pressure if the alu gets damaged while sanding. test it out on the side of the rim where the tyre slides over to check it, that'll stay out of sight

silicate glass beads is what im hoping to get

They are cool looking rims Theo, remind me or Merc "Mexican hats".

With regards to shot/media blasting i was under the impression the pro's use soda or walnut shell blasting as it doesn't affect the relatively soft alloy.

Just use a hammer and nicker,job done

Remind me of BM bottletops a bit.

Unusual, and therefore cool.

Powercoated white theyd look a bit like thos Ford WRC jobs.

I am glad now you decided to keep those as i now have a set of origionals.
They will look great on your motor when they are finished.
They have got that 70s early 80s look about them.
I would love to know what they where origionally off. Good luck.

if you wont a quick way to sand the lip just to see
put the wheel on your car turn it on and put it in first the wheel spins the just aply sand papper to the lip wont take long

iv done it works wonders on curb rash
