I hope you have better luck with it than with
the one i had years ago.. Mine was one of the low powered engines.
I bought it with 16K on the clock and it looked like new
I found out why it had such low mileage. The fucking thing would never start inorder to go anywhere

Sounds like the 1300 carb my mam used to have Mark. That one was reliable though, and in daily service until the Police caught someone nicking it - luckily for us, they were already out with a guy looking for his Orion Ghia, when they spotted a clothes prop poking out of the door of my mams. The copper ran after the car thief and rugby tackled him to the ground! I will always remember that - It was certainly a much better car than her carbed mk1 Fiesta.

Sounds like you had a bad un too Mark! Keep an eye out for any RS1600i or Ghias when in the scrapyard please!

Even if this one doesn't work, it can just sit in the garage and appreciate in value. That will (kinda) do me.

As for WWD, I agree, although the trick bits will ease that pain!

Rich, what's happening with the front panel? It's safely hung up on the garage rafters, so not in the way at all. Just wondering if (I have forgotten his name!) has been trying to get in touch with me? My phone can be very dodgy. Seems to have a virus ffs.

My dad used to have a metallic green Y reg 1.6 GL. A pretty nippy thing, until the cambelt broke somewhere on a Belgian motorway ... Remember it well though, pity I was too young to drive at the time.

WWD is an issue, naturally Bloody wheelspin.

Thanks mate. I thought of you this morning as it happens. The temperature was freezing. Too cold for shorts and t-shirt anyway, as I opened the gate.

I know you like to keep an eye on the air temp.

Have to keep eye of temps as house heating is by fireplace, so need to burn correct amount of wood before temps plummet, to have some level of warmth :p

Now I remember that one place I worked had Escort wagon, it was MkII version, but I must say that everything in that interior had placed properly, no reaching, easy to get perfect driving position too, of course it did shake at 60 like all of those I have driven (was it engine/gearbox mounts?), but ergonomy was spot on for my size, much better than 360 I must say, even 360 is not the worst, just steering wheel to knee gap is too little and wheel is bit too forward to my taste, which means knees are at wheel or I have to reach wheel, or my head is touching roof, which is especially annoying with french crap as there it is even worse.

So.. you broke a 360 , had money for bills and still enough left over for this? omfg

Well, it's not like I bought an RS500 lol. The 360 had some tasty parts though, so everyone got what they wanted.

I still have a fair bit left too. Must get around to sorting through it all and get it advertised!



Jani, I always liked the interior in my 360, they are certainly laid out better than in my mk3 Mondeo. The Escort does seem good (especially for the age) but the Scheel seats are too deep if anything!

360 certainly is a good one, seats are better than most of same class/age too, 240 has however seats that I like better, when sitting part is not failed that is.

Very comfortable seats in a 360, and a mate of mine who isn't into old cars much was very surprised at how 'modern' the whole car felt.

I have never so much as sat in a 240, but I can say without doubt that I would happily own an early 242 Turbo!

740 interiors are awesome. Huge, comfortable and from the future AND past. But I do like 360s too.

Ford Granada seats are good too. 7/940 seats are cool on long journeys but I find as a small person I kinda disappear into them a little. 240 GLT leather seats are ace and have that "classic" feel about them. 360 seats are the perfect middle ground IMO.
