No Tom, I don't think it is. The one that's currently for sale is a 'special', which has a black fascia if you look closely at the pictures. The German one which was for sale in 2011 definitely had a brown fascia as a standard model should. I wish I'd been brave enough to buy it

I think you're right. It's unlikely that someone would swap the dash AND the mirrors AND ditch the wheel caps. It also looks like the boot decals were a bit low on the other version.

Still, it's a HUGE coincidence, that two gold 343s first registered at the end of '76 should turn up within two years of each other in the same region.
Cheers

I wonder why the boot badges are so low in the first one? The holes for the fixings should show at that level if they're stuck on.
The second one also has 4 mudflaps (non original however). the back lights also look a lot brighter (clean) than the first and the gold colcor looks brighter (maybe becouse it's wet?)

My cars are a 1979MY 343DL (but with various upgrades, including tinted windows, metallic paint, and a tilt/slide sunroof), and a 1981MY 343GL, converted to GLS R-Sport spec, with various further upgrades.
The 1980MY 345 "AOW" doesn't belong to Jay...but to Shimon, who also owns Rich's old (yellow) car "DUX".
"AWN" sold YEARS ago (circa 2005-2006), and was "customised" (bumpers removed, grille filled with drilled sheet...much smoothing, and tasty BBS rims)...last seen in Torbay, South Devon, about 3 years ago.
cheers
James

33 then (I'd included your 2 I think! and the Yellow DUX and Gold Devon one).
Is AOW the 5 door you saved a while ago?
Including that one the total is 34.
35 with the one Tom found:

Yes, AOW is my former 1980 5-door...the one I "saved" (sort of!) three(!) years ago. It's now with Shimon.
As a side-note...thanks all for helping with this. I will probably adopt it at some point as a formal VOC thing, as a "Register" is precisely what I'm supposed to do, as Register Keeper. Of course in practice there are far more useful things for me to be doing on a day-to-day basis than list-keeping, but it is a very useful and interesting resource when numbers get low enough for us to capture a decent percentage of the cars out there.
cheers
James

Looking at all these early cars it just shows how they feel much more Daf than Volvo and by the last 340's they had become more of a mini 240 and lost anything Daf about them. A line up of all model years would be amazing for a BVK

Check out this thread on more really early Mk1s:

There are some more for the register, anyway.
Are we still at only 2x known MY 1976 cars still in existence?

A Swedish 1981 Volvo 345 DLS. First time on the road: 1981-01-22.
Got 125xxx km's on the clock.
Not much rust. I am going to fix all the rust there is and repaint it this summer. And don't worry, I will keep the stripe

Modified with B23A, K-cam, E85, 2,5" exhaust, Volvo 245 rear reinforced springs in the front and M47R. This summer it will get Megasquirt and turbo, aiming at 200hp to begin with.
