today was a holiday..dont know what exactly but i had some spare time and made the engine mounts
they were tacked in place with the engine positioned and centered, then i removed the engine and subframe and welded them, also welded a nut to mount a cylindrical rubber mount...the mounts are rated for 300kg each so i think they will be strong enough...i used the original volvo 740 aluminium brackets on the engine.

I have some concerns on the ability for that cross beam to take the weight and torque of the red block. Volvo intertionally did not do it that way.

You are suporting the entire engine on 4x M8, and cantilevered. The 340 engine uses the cross beam, but also has rear supports.

The cross beam has a tendancy to crush at the end box sections if jacked in the middle.

The 360 engine is supported by 8 x M10 fine pitch.

I advise adding some support from the chassis leg to take the torque off the cross beam.

hi...thanks for the advice, your concerns also passed through my mind when making the mounts
reason i used the crossmember as engine mounting point is i dont have acess to 360 parts and the mounts were awkward to fabricate from the engine directly to the chassis leg.

i reinforced heavily the box sections on the ends of the crossmember with 5mm bar
also the original screw holes have a reinforcing plate on the chassis leg with very long captive nuts and i will be replacing the original screws with stainless steel ones. but i might consider welding some tabs upwards and another bolting point just in case.

today i spent 6 hours removing sound deadening from the passenger side and making progress on closing the tunnel
found a bunch of rotten spots and pinholes, the more i poke the more i find

the transmission tunnel is huge so a good thing in the event of a (very distant i hope) future engine upgrade
i am planning on grinding the seams on the underside of the car and applying seam sealer and then something we call " anti-gravel"..it gives a rubberized and rough finish ... dont know the technical term in proper English....
i need advice on something to apply on the inside to act as sound deadening and add some cushioning before the carpets...something cheap if possible...

This looks great, I myself am thinking of converting the engine myself in the future. I at least want to change out the gearbox and put it up front rather than the back and get a new axle.
