I noticed them too in the 1985 accesorry brochure(mk2 model). But the one from 1986 doesn't show them.

I placed an ad on a large dutch advert website. Let's hope someone has a pair of these caps laying around.

Good find there... glass kit might be coming out...

Fogs, it's not that seal, Beast'ss/r panel was 2 years old, and the seal was good, still howled like a biatch. half a turn to tilt did the job though. Get a proper roof, I have no noise from it in Kar.

That'll be because beasts sunroof wasn't adjusted correctly then. The panel should sit slightly below flush at the front and flush at the rear. The seal does play the main part if you compare two similarly adjusted sunroofs. The saloons roof isn't perfect, its too high at the front - but its still very quiet because the seal is good.

Indeed, the man is right! My original GLT had a really poorly adjusted sunroof and it didn't work when I got it. So, the whole lot came out, replaced some bits, mainly the plastic blocks that slide backwards and forwards, as they had broken and weren't holding the panel down. Then the adjusting pieces at the front didn't quite have enough adjustment on them, but I got it quite good in the end, and that reduced the noise dramatically. But the trick of raise it half a turn was the one to sort it on the motorway, or turn up the stereo! :D But my new GLT has minimal noise, the most annoying thing is a slight whistle from an air vent, despite the roof being slightly low at the back and a tad high at the front, also the seal looks pretty good.

One set, to be reproduced. Like I said, we're probably talking in terms of months. We're not sure if we're talking about exactly the same part, as it's from a very early car (S reg!), but it's something similar. I'll keep you guys posted.

cheers

i've looked in a parrts manual and cant find those plastic covers.... they do look good though and would make motorways quieter. However, I've found the quality of the door rubbers more important for wind noise. My J reg has good door rubbers so its soooo quiet compared to my E reg.

Foggy, dya have some sunroof plans? I need parts for my E reg... unfortunalty this E reg leaks in the rain!

Sunroof plans...do I have a plan of how I plan to modify mine, or do you mean a schematic?

SteveP can give you chapter and verse on the S/R - his Dad used to repair them for a living AFAIK.

cheers

Yeah my dad used to work at Tudor Webasto and used to fit aftermarket sunroofs to (then) nearly new cars. This was back when full length vinyl roofs were in fashion :P

Isn't it more the case that his sunroof and he decided to part company?
