I am also in Melbourne, welcome to V3M.

My 1986 GLT is different, it has a snowflake symbol for aircon.

My heater does not work out of the middle vents, but is very effective from the vents near the driver and passenger door, so i just close the central vents off and find i get plenty of hot air.

142000km, manufactured Feb 86, so just had 20th birthday, should last me 40 years if I keep up with 4000km / year I did since i bought it a year ago.

Don't worry about the air in the middle vents, it's only supposed to be cold so that the driver can get a fresh supply of air whilst also keeping toasty.

(got any spare snowflake switches!??! )

I'm near Ferntree gully Cam, i get ambient temperature air no matter what i do with the switches, aircon doesn't work, but it definately needs a regas, so i'm not too concerned with that, but the heater does nothing.
