If you read what I actually wrote you'll quickly find that I'm not complaining about anything, or indeed asking for anyones sympathy. All I was saying is that the technology is too good to avoid these days, if you speed they can and probably will catch you.

I had a short complaint about a previous offence, where I did question the need for a speed camera on a piece of deserted trunk road in the highlands.

And Solmanda, I think it's fair to say that you drive like a total maniac judging by that piece of video you posted a while back, regardless of what kind of speed limits were active or broken...

What is the point of this thread? Active discussion and debates are welcome, but blatantly insulting other members of the board is not atall acceptable because you disagree with their reasonable view. To then move onto someone else is quite ridiculous. Calm down people, we don't have attitude like this here!

All I will add to this is ,

Regardless of speed limits,

there is a very big difference between those who think they can drive safely at speed and those of us who have been TAUGHT to drive safely at speed.

don't let this degenerate into a slanging match , that is not what this forum is about

I would say if a police advanced driving course is available in your area ,its worth every penny and could even save your life

I must admit if I had your car Steve , I doubt if I would ever speed again just in case some d*!khead in a Seat pulled out in front of me !!!

ronnie, I'm not going to start an argument here. I agree that many speed limits are plain stupid. As for that video posted a while back, there was no speeding in residential areas at all - but I'm not saying I don't speed when roads open out. I have been pulled over (on two wheels) and accepted what I was caught for, in my experience it's alot less hassle (and so far that has stopped me getting any points). From what I've read, points make little difference to insurance as many people have some now, it shouldn't affect your driving that much if you have 9 or fewer points. Hope you get it sorted.

I never ever thought I would have to do this, because, frankly I thought this forum was better than this with people who could live and let live but there is a holier-than-thou attitude developing and we shouldn't be judging people on this forum. People need to take a step back.
