always nice if the engine type is not mentioned :-)

the gasket is needed on ALL 300s (except the 1.7 and diesel 8) )


you could try again with a thin layer of Gun Gum and a new clamp.
if needed, derust the manifold flange first.

yeah, that's what I was going to say, with there being no gasket, you need to make sure the flanges are scrupulously clean and there are no rusty chips etc preventing a good seal. Remove them and polish the fitting surface with some emery or glass paper and then try again, Gun Gum shouldn't be necessary. Also, don't be afraid to really tighten up the flange, although don't break it obviously :)
